Something tells me 17 lbs per sidebag. This number sticks out in my head for some reason, but I don't know exactly where I read it.

Put it this way, I've logged some 20 000km with my bags and I always load em' up with 10-13 lbs of cargo and I've never once experienced any problems or difficulties.

6g bracket states 22lbs max .... but like mdp, I never put more than 10-15 lbs in them (leaves rm to buy stuff, huh)....and yup, couldn't fathom why Honda didn't just make the holes or parts the same size to begin with? And Honda told me Givi makes the bags. Maybe they just don't speak Italian .... Got mine for 900 from Honda Stealership when I bought the bike ....

Lank8pew,try David Silver Spares (they are in England). I checked them out a while back and the prices look OK.

If you are going to buy them, I also recommend David Silver Spares. I bought mine off of them and the price was right, fast shipping and they don't have the big U.S. mandated reflectors on them either. Then to top it all off, the emblem says VFR instead of Interceptor. (Nice touch)
