I'm interested in purchasing a used VFR and I found one for $5500. Assuming its in great mechanical and cosmetic condition, is this a decent price? What should I be looking for or asking about on a bike with 14k miles? I know this isn't a lot of miles, after all it is a Honda! They run forever...

Heard some things about the voltage regulators? He said no issues with it and it hasn't been replaced. Comes with a set of hard bags and ZG Double Bubble. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys have!

    Josh

I am in Michigan and found a new '08 and the stealer said lowest he could go was $9500... Was very unimpressed to say the least! New would be nice but I am partial to white and the hard bags look pretty nice. Decisions...Decisions...

    Any other thoughts?

With the bags the '06 really isn't a bad deal but honda has told their dealers the new msrp on interceptors is about $7000.00. I would show you're dealer the brand new Interceptors on Ebay that can't even make a reserve of $6995.00 then offer them $7k off the show room floor. If the don't go for it F'em. And buy the '06. I have a 2004 with the original R/R unit and have had no problem so far! good luck! Honda : Interceptor : eBay Motors (item 290396922436 end time Feb-08-10 09:20:07 PST) P.S. this bike has been on Ebay for weeks now. They can't meet the reserve.

I told the dealer a few weeks ago I would buy NOW for $7500 and he wouldn't budge on the price.

I think I will sit tight for a few weeks and if the '06 is still for sale, make an offer. Can't ride just yet anyway...

Wait till spring, grab a south bound Greyhound to a reasonable price, then haul ass back home.
Or low ball the used one with a fist full of dollars.
No matter what you buy, a year later you'll have a used bike.
    Good luck-

    Mac

As people have mentioned above you can get 07' for $6995 from Ebay. You will at least have a brand new bike and more importantly you will know what it has done and where it has been. New bikes also feel nice and you will take better care of it. I am on my 3rd 6 Gen since 2005 and I think it is a great bike. With the used bike you are also getting close to the big " I am going to break the bank service".

Thanks to Honda, resale has been decapitated on 6th gen VFR's. $5500 for a used '06 with bags is a good price. $7500 for a new one is a great price, practically a steal, even if $6995 is available elsewhere. I only wish I could say I had these current pricing options available to me when I bought my '08 a year and a half ago. No matter which way you go...you can't go wrong.

Well for what it's worth........... I'm trading my 2004......... very clean, 6200 mi., bags and Sargent saddle and the dealer willl only give me $4350 for it. If I were to try and sell it myself I'd try and get at least $5k. I'm trading it for a 2010 VFR 1200.

JCH, just go onto cycletrader.com and type in your zip code. You should be able to find several that way within a 100 mile radius. I just typed in for me here in CT and came up with new 07's for 7K. Here's a link.

2007 Honda Interceptor (vfr800fi) for sale in Hicksville, New York - CycleTrader.com

Check it out. Mac gave some good advice earlier about waiting a little while and grabbing that southbound greyhound. Keep looking for a little while and when you find something you like, make sure you check it out thoroughly.

Is the $5500 deal from a dealer or private individual? As previously noted that is a good price considering the hard bags are included. If you shop around a bit I'm sure you can find a similar bike at the same price with an aftermarket seat and exhaust included too.

    Regards,
    Rollin

Sounds like a good deal to me, I was pricing bikes all over the place ,it seems even with shipping out of state deals used with low miles is a good way to go. I think I got real lucky getting a 06 with the big buck option abs-might save my ass in slipper maine roads-But I hate not buying without looking. I look at a vmax and didn't like it!
