    Hi all

So i got round to servicing my 2002 vtec this weekend during which i found a pool of fuel next to the pot 3 intake and the fuel filter was drenched in fuel also

just wondering if anybody has come accross this problem before or if it is a common fault on them

a friend did sugest it might be a fuel leak somewhere but i have followed every pipe and seal and cant find anything

any thoughts would be much appreciated

first thing is to remove top of air box and filter, leave the bottom on to catch gas if there is a leak.
run it for a few and see if you get some fuel leaking any where. just be ready to shut it off.
for some reason i would say it blew back into air box from the throttle bodies some how. open / bent exhust valve is all I can think of right now.
any leak from the tank or tank lines would not get into the air box.

will research a bit and see if I can come up w/ anything else.

please post anything you come up with as far as any other info.

Seems odd, check fuel pressure regulator (vac lines), if diaphram leaks it may find it's way up there thru a vac line connected to sensor or something.

Is pot 3 the nearest to the main air intake? Is it possible you have a fuel leak outside of the airbox that is being drawn in through the intake?

hi i have looked in to it a bit further still no leaks anywhere but have spoken to a mechanic friend of mine whom seems to think it might be a fault with the valves apparently he has seen it before on vtec around my milleage 18000
problem is i have put my leg out in a non motoring accident so its going to be e few days until i can get round to having a decent look at it
thanks for your replies though ill let you know how i eventually get on

Are you absolutely sure its gas and not oil? Have you checked to see if there is fluid inside the hoses to the PAIR solenoid valve? My initial thought is that it is oil, or oil and gas mix, getting into the airbox through the PAIR system, as the hoses connect to the back of the airbox near 1 & 3. First thing I would check is to make sure one or more of the PAIR reeds isn't stuck open and that the solenoid valve is working properly.
