Ok, i've got a '91 VFR750F that i've been having some trouble with...a mechanic buddy of mine took a look at it and replaced the starter box, and the relay switch. but i get no spark. He said the pulser is good and so are the coils. He said it could be the cdi box (or ecm/ecu or whatever it's called) or maybe some type of pressure plate or something or other......anybody have any ideas? i'd really like to get my baby all back together and on the road again...:frown:

Take it to a Honda shop!

When dealing with VFR electronics, I take the coward's way out and pay a shop that has experience w/the same. Screwing around with electronics can cost a lot more than if you go to a certified mechanic to begin with.

Bite the bullet and get her running! (You good lookin devil you!)

    Check w/ other Sportbike folk.

All Honda shops aren't created equal. Talk to some of your local sportbike folk about who's the best w/electrics. Sometimes it's an independent shop.

i checked with a mechanic who knows about them, he looked at my bike and said that he's getting a wierd reading from the pulsers and that both are probably bad....could that be causing the situation? and if so how much should i be looking at them costing? thanks for the help!

I can't advise you on your particular problem, but with a good voltmeter, ammeter, the shop manual, and the common service manual, testing the electrical systems and components is fairly straight forward. Last night I helped my riding buddy trouble shoot a charging problem on his CB-1. Carefully following the test procedures, we confirmed our suspicions that the R/R was bad.
All that being said, if you are not into fixing it yourself, take it to a GOOD HONDA mechanic. You can wind up in far worse shape if you let the wrong person work on it.

    Good luck....

    Mike
