I spent a lot of time at the VFR display as it was the main reason I attended the show, just had to see the bike and get all touchy-feely with it. I currently have a '07 CBR600RR and a '01 Harley Softail Deuce, and I would love to have just a single bike that, with a heavy emphasis on sport, could also be a comfortable cruiser. So I am naturally interested in the new VFR1200. I was a little disappointed the model on display was the standard shift model, I would really have liked to see the dual clutch iteration. Overall, I am very, very impressed with it and can't wait to see some real performance testing numbers ie. 0-60, quarter mile, etc.

Here are some first impressions I take away from the show:

    - Looks much better in real life compared to magazine shots
    - Beautiful workmanship and fitment everywhere
    - For me, great riding position
    - Bike seems much lighter than the advertised weight when you are on it

Here are some of the pics I took of it, and for the couple of shots that have me on the bike, I am 5'11".

I'd need to wait until there is an aftermarket exhaust system that did not look so hideous. The rest of the bike works for me, but that smoke-stack seems out of place and ruins the visual appeal of the SSSA.

No, it was a huge show with major manufacturers, dealers, clubs and accessories which was held at the new DC Convention Center. They even had a large portion of the floor dedicated to indoor freestyle demos which was sponsored by Ducati.

Nice pixs! Front end design looks complex. I need to see one in person. Will someone buy one and bring it to the VFR gathering?

Thanks, Deedub! It does look a bit better than I thought. The swingarm is nice. The wheels look very nice but look hard to keep clean. And I must give you excellent marks on your choice of outerwear. MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR is the best outdoor clothing manufacturer!! Good choice!

Is that an MSRP tag of $15,999 that you took a photo of?

Thanks for the pics. I like the bike, sans the exhaust...

Yep, the tag said $15,999 for the base model. I asked the rep. at the show how much the dual clutch tranmission would add to the base price and he said he did not know for sure, but he "guesstimated" around $1500.

I have tons of their gear: clothing, tent, sleeping bags. Their Phantom line of down products are particularly well-designed. I used to own junk but after a while I decided clothes can keep you alive and comfortable or dangerously uncomfortable. I spend alot of time in the outdoors and their quality matters. MH makes The North Face look just adequate.

The best lister posted so far, it has been said a few times the VFR1200 looks better in the flesh than in photos so am starting to believe it and the riding position is supposed to be very close to the Gen 6 VFR in otherwords perfect, if you're after an Auto have you looked at the FJR1300A ?
