I have lusted after a RC51 for years now and as of last week I finally have one!!! (Sorry no pics yet damn camera is broken) I put her through the paces today and WOW! This thing is a torque monster. Yesterday the roads were still wet and while doing 45 mph I start to accelerate (not even half throttle) the rear wheel starts spinning. And I have no idea what 6th gear is for...at 75 mph and 6th gear the bike is lugging at 3400 rpm's. It flicks easy into the corners and comes screaming out of the turns. And the exhaust note...(with the FMF Titanium exhaust) magnificent. I can't wait to get this bike out on the track. The one thing I didn't expect this bike to do is show me how much I love my VFR. After riding the RC and getting back on my VFR I realized what a perfect bike the viffer really is. I was thinking of selling my VFR but I now realize that is something I can never do...so I looks like there is going to be two bikes in the stable now.:cheersaf:

A 51 has been on my bike lust list ever since the SP-2 came out. Congrats -- You are right though, a VFR is the anchor of the bike stable and there always will be one in my garage.

I've got one friend with an RC51 with Two Bros that he chopped himself, and another friend with a TL1000R with full Yosh; liter twins are some of the sexiest sounding bikes you'll ever hear... I know I love it when they fire em up! Great addition to the garage:thumb:

Thanks! It's a clean 2003 with 6500 miles. The bike was originally a high school graduation present for an 18 year old kid. (I guess the parents were trying to kill him) The kid put 1000 miles on it and dropped it denting the left side of the tank. After that he didn't touch the bike. The guy I bought it from was a honda service manager so at the end of the last riding season he replace the brakes, tires, fork seals and all new fluids. He had a new born so the wife said it had to go! I saw a tear in his eye as I drove away.

was just looking at those on ebay last night...kinda hard to find one that someone has not screwed up by home customizing...... how do you like the riding position?....all seem to be in the 6000 and up category....maybe when things get better.... have fun with it..

Welcome to the v-twin club. The RC is a great track bike; not so much on the street. If you're going to get serious about performance you'll need to do some work on the suspension, but if/when you do it'll handle even better.

I too, really want an RC-51. There was a used one at the local Honda shop for a few weeks. I hear they are way over built and should run forever. Also, gear driven cams :)
