Does nearly full gas tank need to be stored upside down?

I've removed all the bodywork off my '99 (glad I bought the shop manual) and am now poised to remove the tank, which calls for it to be turned upside down for fuel line removal, but do i need to store it that way? Will gas drain out where the line's hook-up? I'm taking it apart this winter to check valve clearances, do a general clean-up, change oil and anti-freeze, so i can start my life with this bike with a good base line starting point. Also going to bleed the clutch and replace the fluid, along with the brakes......which looks like a joy. I do have a power bleeder, but what do I need to watch for? 1st experiance with linked brakes. Once the VFR is up to my standards, I've got to remove the motor from my Guzzi to replace the rear main seal. Plenty to do this winter. Thanks,

A full gas tank is heavy and storing it upside down may cause damage to the tank or paint. You will be way better off completely draining it. You will want to start with fresh gas anyway.
Whenever I do projects I drain my tanks and put the fuel in my car.

if your gonna store your tank....plug the end of your fuel line if you want to leave the fuel in it...then place it on the shelf.....

    Good luck with the rebuilding
