Thanks to all for the all the kind words. A little insight into my condition...Im 32, good shape, hard worker, 205 pounds ( now 185). I was initially diagnosed with H1N1 (long story), a cardiologist eventually saw me and was transfered to another local hospital. Another group of doctors checked me out and again was transferred to Mt Sinai in NYC after 1 week. There I underwent a mitrol valve replacement and an and aortal valve repair. This was all brought on by a staph infection, the root cause of which i still dont know and doesnt matter at this point. So I was repaired. I returned home after 3 weeks of hospital stay this week and feel like my recuperation rate has changed dramatically.
So, like I said, dont know what brought this on, but the hear condition was pre-existing (had a murmur as a child). The infection danced around and damaged my valves
Recovery will take 3 months, 2 for my sternum to heel, 2 for the antibiotics to rid of the infection, 1 for physical well being & conditioning
Quite a wrench in the gears and I missed out on xmas and new years. I work on an ocean going ship and esp. planned for being home for holidays.
Wash your hands often, maintain goog oral hygene and get regular check ups.
I wish this experience on no one - it truly sucked, so keep your nose clean and be healthy

Man Kobe, that sounds like it generally sucks all around. Glad you are back home and on the path to recovery though. As bad as that was, could have been worse. Just keep looking forward to a nice summer ride - first one is for you buddy

No sweat at all Tim. I figured you'd be laid up for a while and since daytime tv SUCKS, a couple magazines might be in order. I figured you probably already had all the bike mags, so though you could drool over some cars for a while instead. If I can do anything at all to help ya out with anything while you're out of commission, you know where I am. Catch up with ya soon buddy.
