I have a 2000 Honda VFR800. Love it. However as many of you may know, it was having issues. The FI light kept saying it was the MAP sensor connector. I decided to get on ebay and see if I could get a new MAP sensor for cheap.

I bought an entire sensor kit essentially. It came with the MAP sensor, the IAT and some other relay's and sensors.

I replaced my MAP sensor with the used 6th gen MAP sensor and swapped the IAT's.

I also decided to cleenout the reed valves. And I am really glad I did. They were stuck.

Put everything back together and started it up. Great! No error codes and it sounds a lot better.

When it stops snowing I plan to take it for a nice drive.

    Woot! I'm excited.

Sweet, I didn't know that it would fit. I replaced my MAP sensor on my 6th gen earlier this year trying to track down an issue. I started doing some reverse part number searches and found out that Honda used the 6th gen map sensor on a TON of different bikes over the years... going back to the mid 90's. Needless to say, it made tracking down a used and cheaper MAP sensor a lot easier.

With all of that said, I can see it working just fine. There can't be that much of a difference between them. I would say that connector differences and how they mount probably account for 95% of the differences between various MAP sensors.

I am seriously doubting that mymap sensor was bad, but I don't know how to test it without a bike. (Buddy is borrowing mine.)

The only way that I know to do it is with it hooked up to the bike and measuring the voltage via a few leads on coming in/out of the ECU.
