    vf1000 rear shock problems

hi guys im redoing the fork oil on a 84 vf1000f1 same shock as the 1000r,

the manual says 120mls of oil, and i read www.teamrc17.net/tech/rear_shock_fluid_replacement.doc which states 340mls

the problem being i managed to get 440mls out of my shock,

has some one over filled it in the past?? or should i just refill with 440 mls the same as what i removed???

    any insight appreciated

    cheers

This is one of the rare error in the shop manual, copied in the clymer.
I encountered the same problem on a vf1000f too and according to Jamie, the actual capacity is 320cc but he puts 350 to 375cc when he does a rebuild.
I don't remember how much I actually put in but it was in the 320-340cc range.

well i put 350mls in the rear shock, and replaced the air line orings,
but the bike feels like it has no spring at all, when you sit on the bike, the shock sags and doesnt bounce back
i have the air pressure at 40psi, and its holding there,

    is my shock toasted??
