..looks like I may be hangin' around here soon, asking lots of questions about this little VF500 'm about to, uh, trade for.

The fella says its' an '85, though the pic shows it to have '86 paint..well there I go, first question!
Is it possibly that a late '85 may have had the '86 paint?

Anyhow, what you see is all I have at the moment, one lousy pic...
It's supposedly all there and titled, been sitting for a few years at least.

    Cheers!

Maybe he bought the '86 model late in '85. The next model year always comes out before the year is over.

Hope you get the missing plasticy-type bits and such along with it that are missing from the pic?

Welcome to the forum, have fun!!

He says all the plastic is there. Here's hopin'.
I am very curious to see.
First thing will to see if it runs. Evidently the PO said it did...

It probably did, but I'll put money down that it won't now unless you tear the carbs down. You may not need to buy a carb kit but you may look at how dry rotted the carb insulator boots are (the black rubberish tubes that connect the carbs to the head). They will likely be dry rotted and hard as rocks ($10-14/ea for new ones), battery, fuel filter, possible air filter, check the tank for rust, and likely fork seals are the things you can most likely count on having to worry about.

There can always be a hidden devil so make sure you feel like you got yourself a great deal - just in case...

The deal was a steal, so no worries there.
Worst scenario, after doing the cleanout and cleanup, it's got a lunched motor.
I'll be donating it in that case.
