    Hello Amigos.
Does anybody know the correct way to colocate the master link in a new chain, mine has some kind of clip and I'm not sure if it is strong enough, I was thinking in solder it, any suggestion??
    thanks¡

If your master link is the clip style, install it so that the closed end is facing in the direction of chain rotation. Do not solder it; the heat will cause problems. You can use a little bit of RTV / silicone sealer to make sure it stays in place. Apply the RTV after the clip is installed.

RK specifies clip or staked (riveted) links for some of their chains but staked only for the 530s. The clip link was working fine but it just was simply outside my comfort zone so I had it replaced...

I have run a clip style master link on my 02 for the past 3 years and never had a problem.

Have any of you had the clip style come off? I have not and I used the clip style on older bikes I have owned for years and years, infact the only one I have heard of failing was about 7 years ago where a friend of mine did not put the clip on proporly and it pulled apart 1/4 mile down the road. He later said that he did not think the clip was all the way... I guess for peice of mind I will continue using rivited chains but why all of the concern about the clip style?
