Through rain and sleet and snow I drove, 250 miles each way, lugging my trailer (only used for garbage these past few years), picking up my hitherto-sight-unseen Pearl White 93 Classic. It's been sitting idle through the 09 season. There's a tiny fork oil leak. It's been 30K kms since the fork oil, brake fluid and Fox shock was R&R'd. So I'll spend the winter taking it apart and putting it back together. I have to get it off the trailer and up through the snow to my bunky, which has heat and light.

Even though I only paid $1K, the V threw in his SSSA rear stand and unused rear seat cowl. Well hell, that saved me at least $200! Chain and sprockets replaced less than 500 kms ago. A little surface rust. It has a high curved smoke screen, looks like maybe a Givi touring?

    My plan:

    1. Send the seat to Spencer Seats in Fla to have it reworked. I did that with my Bandit and was very pleased, and it costs less than $100 including shipping. Flash Intro Page

    2. Check out the front and rear sag, and based on that:

    3. take off the forks (Progressive Suspension springs), clean them out, replace or shorten of necessary, replace seals; make seal driver from pvc.

    4. take off the shock Fox he says but I forgot to look), send it out to a shock specialty shop for rebuilding, based on the sag results. I have 3 extra springs to send him as he has a spring exchange program.

    5. Brake fluid replacement.

    6. Try to start and hope the carbs don't need looking at because I would hate that.

I'll post pics of what I got as soon as I get the cover off the bike tomorrow. Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of a flat or paved surface at my home, and there is plenty of crusty snow everywhere . . . *sigh*

    To order:

    1. Gen Mar bar risers (I had Heli's last time round on my 98).
    2. Rear Givi rack from TW. I have the E450 case and 2 22's, but I don't think I want a full Fugly Wingrack this time around.
    3. Throttle lock.
    4. Some kind of socket hookup for GPS and heated stuff.
    5. I have a Hindle in the cupboard, but I may leave it stock. Never done that.

    What else????

    Edit: Oh Yah: VFRness! :thumb:

I can't get pics until I figure out how to get the bike off the trailer and up to the bunky, up the porch steps, and through a door, all through 6 inches of crusty snow.

Here we go - finally the Snow Leopard has taken cover and now rests comfortably in the "workshop". It took a 4x4 3/4 ton pickup and ramps and muscle to get it up the hill and through the doorway.

I was a little disappointed at the lack of white shoes. But overall, I am well pleased. Let's hope I don't destroy it!

looks great! The bike anyway, you mgiht need to get a new dresser. I don't know that the white goes well with green decor.

    LOL @ Tinkerin.

Yes, that is a great looking bike. You are a step ahead of some of us. I got whire wheels factory and they will stay that way. You have an excuse to powedercoat yours back to white, and they will be alot easier to keep clean ;)

Hmmmm . . . the mismatched dresser is more than balanced off by the 26" satellite TV, Hi-speed internet, phone, array of lighting, oversized propane wall heater, and view of woods and lake in the "workshop!

It's pretty high mileage - about 60,000 - though it was upgraded and had major servicing (forks, shocks etc.) from time to time throughout its lifetime.

Job 1, before removing the tupperware: sag check.
It's funny, I can't even get a glimpse of the shock without removing the fairings it seems . . . so I can't even check to see where the preload is set. I've got a couple of rounded-out hex bolts to deal with before I can get them off.

Meantime, the sag numbers look pretty good, considering I've ballooned to an embarrassing 220 lbs over the last few months, thanks to the introduction of insulin:

    Front - 26 mm
Rear - 30 mm, but preload setting so unknown so far.

Geez, there's a lot of plastic wrapped around this beast!

Hey, nice ride and nice choice. I've got the same thing. I paid a little more for mine, but it only had 28K miles. Good luck with the plans.

    60k is ok.
    Hey that rhymed. Eh?

I got about 60k on my 1990 and she runs like new. Few little maintenance things have popped up ( r/r, clutch master ) other then that, its rumoured that we can get 100k+ out of em if we treat em right.

Congrats on the new toy! The NEP Throttle Lock is what I have on both my bikes and it works great and is inexpensive. If you go with the NEP make sure to get the CC-2 model for single cable. I've included a link below.

BTW...I just turned 10k on my 93 a couple of weeks ago!!
