You mean upgraded bulbs installed to replace the OEM ones?

    Seroiusly..

If someone can't see you with the headlights on, then a couple of small extras are not going to help much..

If it's for you to see better, then I'd have to say that the lights fitted to the VFR are probably about the best fitted to any bike..

You see a lot of additional lighting fitted to GS's and the like because their headlights are pathetic.

Might be wrong, personally would be hesitant to add any significant additional drain on the VFR's alternator or RR.

I recall seeing a thread on another forum where someone fitted extra lights. From memory it was a VFR, on either www.ozvfr.net or www.vfrdiscussion.com

You can't look at ozvfr at the moment though, the server died Thursday. :frown:

It is to see better at night. Just because the VFR's are good, doesn't mean that can't be improved upon. Many twisty, two lane country roads -- the ones I like to ride, along the coast or up in the mountains, are unlighted. Aux lights help tremendously, when going through corners. Much, much more so than with cars, since as you turn the bike, you significantly change the aim and level of your stock head light(s) on a bike. Aux lights allow you to see further through the turns, and allows you to see a wider view, which is important on tighter turns where your head light placement is behind where you should be looking.

No, you see a lot fitted to the GS's and the like because of the riding many of it's owners do.

Had some Pia 910's mounted on the mirror pods of my KRS, silly big looking, but boy could they throw out some light.

Adding drain to the RR, isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are in fact some who make the argument that it may helpmake the RR last longer. Plus modern HID lights use very little extra power compared to incadecents.

I see you have some experience with PIAA...that would be the way I would go as well. I have mounted a couple of LED lights under the the stock set but they don't light up the road, they just make me more visible to oncoming vehicles.

I added a fog light just below the headlights on the underside of the fairings. It was very easy and very cheap. I'll take pictures and post them later.

Not sure if it's what you meant, but I've been running a pair of fog lights I bought from the local Kragen auto parts store. Had them on for 2yrs. now. They shine a horizontal beam that's brighter than stock, however there's not much of a perpindicular projection. p.s. No fix-it tickets yet.

When I had my K1200RS a lot of people were mounting them there. But you had to put them to the far edges and you couldn't buy a lamp over a certain size otherwise the top of the fender hit it when fully compressed. Have you had any issues like that? Someone did make and sell a simple bracket that stuck them out a little further if you wanted a little more clearance.

Still looking for something off the side, maybe from the mirror mounts if they are strong enough.

I got ones that are pretty flat ovals, they probably stick down no more than 2 1/2 inches, so no I haven't had any problems with it hitting the fender.

I just contacted a vendor who already makes mounts for the ST about making some for the VFR. He was asking about the preceived market, before spending time and $$ working some up. How many out there might be interested in such a product? Either immediately, or as a likely future farkle?

This would be mounted up high, maybe of the mirror mounts. The only ones I had found previously would mount to the forks, and I don't really like that idea. Having aux lights mounted so low, would be less effective -- as opposed to fog lights, which should be mounted down low. Plus the wiring would have to hang out a bunch to allow for movement of the forks. And the movement of the forks would obviously affect where your light ended up.

    light mounts

I put set on my 99 VFR from Electrical Connection and when adjusted they light up the sides of the road plus they provide the extra visabilty driving in daytime rush hour. Down side is that their mount is one bolt on the mirror mounts and they can be easily knocked out of adjustment as they can rotate down if not tightened on an a regular basis. Think kits available for 94-02. http://www.electricalconnection.com/make-model_search/honda.htm

Yeah, but unfortunately they only make ones up to 2002 VFR models ;-( But that is exactly what I am looking for.
