So....let's say you had access to a full parts bike VF500. Not sure of the year. Rolling chassis, with engine, wheels, brakes, etc. Not sure of plastic or tank yet.

Let's say this was for sale pretty cheap.

What parts would you strip/hoard, thinking that they are NLA from the mothership and might be needed one day? Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should buy it (and keep it @ my east coast house in storage instead of spending the $ to ship it to CA) or if I should pilfer/take only want I truly think I may need?

What parts should I be concerned with hoarding?

If it has a good motor and can manage to get it back cheaply/easily I'd take that too. Is it such a good deal that you can't find something comparable on the West Coast?

whole bike, motor and all (minus the frame) could pack down into a footlock size crate like crusty said. I'm a hoarder so I wouldn't give up anything.

engine, forks, everything, body parts, everything, electronics, seatpan, everything, signals, lenses, everything.

    Did I say everything?

Yep, I'm always glad that I have a good amount of spare parts. I can normally find what I need to keep stuff going. It's more of a hassle factor thing for me really.

    Good luck!

There are lots of parts out there, you just have to look and ask. This forum is a great place to toss out WTB requests. My guess would be that someone here will have what you need.

That's good to know, glad I found this resource of great people and lots of knowledge. I just worry a bit since it's such an old bike, I don't even know the production numbers or anything so there could be more out there than I think!
