I just purchased a really nice Suomy helmet from another member but it seems a little snug. Particularly across my forehead. Anyone out there familiar with the spec 1 and if they settle in to your head a bit. I am doing a trial fitment at the time to see if wearing it for a period of time hurts my head. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to take the stickers off and and ride with it until I'm sure I can keep it.

If you can feel definite pressure points on the forehead without even taking it out against wind pressure on a ride, then I would say you're in for a permanent headache. Most times the pressure on the sides of your forhead is because your forhead is more oval than the helmet's contour. If the pressure is in the front of the forhead then your head is egg shaped and the helmet more round. Look at the thin strip of foam that pads the forehead area. There's nothing TO break in! If it hurts you already it's not going to get better.

Suomy helmets are by nature more egg shaped than oval. I think you would be better off trying an Arai, or my personal fav is my Bell Star. On Ebay you can get either brand for about half what they ask retail. Have you never gone to a motorcycle shop and tried on different helmets? Arai alone makes them for all different shaped heads, so you have to try them out to know which model is for you. I have had the Arai Corsair and Signet GT (discontinued, I believe replaced by the Profile?). Both of them still gave me a bit of forhead pain on long rides. Arai does not make a truly oval shaped forehead. My Bell Star is perfect, I have ridden for hours with no discomfort at all. If you go with a Bell Star you should know to order a size smaller than you usually wear. I wear large in every make on the market, but I have a medium Bell Star. I actually bought mine at a dealership that was having no luck selling them, so I got it for $299.00! I also bought a dark smoke shade at the same time. It comes with an awesome helmet bag, which I actually use for luggage on weekend trips. It also comes with a five year parts warranty. It's as light as my Corsair but way more comfortable.

Point is, you sound like the Bell might be a better fit. Look for a manufacturer that says they make the shell for more rounded head shapes. WebBikeWorld.com is pretty spot on for helmet reviews and most have videos of the helmets tested. They have a great vid on the Bell Star Helmet, but they also review budget helmets.

Good luck sorting it out, but honestly I think that the Suomy is not for you.

Also, I'd like to point out that if you like to listen to music or answer your cell phone while you're riding, There are a few choices out there for bluetooth equipped helmets at reasonable prices. Oneal Element Fastrack is an excellent helmet with voice activated call answering also built in, which most bluetooth don't have. Also the Oneal Element is a stereo helmet. Some other bluetooth helmets only use one speaker, which to me seems a bit senseless if you're trying to listen to the music from your iPod or phone. There is a review on WebBikeWorld for a bluetooth helmet, but it only has the one speaker. There are also flip-up helmets that have bluetooth, like Jiano, Vemar (most comfy in my opinion), and a few others. So, if that's a consderation there's lots to research. Happy Hunting!

Well, new helmets are supposed to fit almost to the point of being uncomfortable . They will break in.Iif it is comfortable when you put it on new it is not the right fit. It needs to be too snug. Other than that your head is not meant to fit..
I am meant to fit an Arai Quantum II ..... Just is .. My big fat round head and all....

Love the Pirate suit... It fits...
