Give me a break with people in their twenty's calling themselves old. I'm 50, & I was busting doubles at the local MX tracks three years ago. I still ride dirt bikes, not MX, but I'm still out there. Riding my VFR is like driving a Caddy, a big 1950s Caddy.

Interesting demographics - if that's the proper word. Thanks!

It might be interesting to collect information on how many years VFR owners have been riding and what bikes they owned directly before they bought their VFRs.

Pretty smart dude for being a whipper snapper.. LOL   Thing is you really have the right mind set. I too see a lot of young dudes on RR style bikes just for the posing rights, yea they brag up they get out and ride.. LOL when it comes to a good ride 200 + they all go HUH?? and those that do step up to the plate regret it after the first tank fill up. LOL ain't life grand on a VFR.

My wife said something similar to me the other day. We were at the Honda dealership and I was checking out bikes. I was looking at a CBR100RR and the wife said "you should consider bikes that more befit your years and your station in life.” By that I think she was actually saying "old fat guys look funny on sport bikes.” I suppose I do look a little wadded up on a sport ride. I am 50 years old and I have always had a bike of some kind lurking around. They have all had sporting intentions from my first real motorcycle, a 250 Triumph with clubman bars to my R90S BMW and even my Norton . Cruisers have never really interested me much. I don't ride with my feet in front of me very well. I was thinking of taking her at her word and maybe building a cafe racer Gold Wing but the VF500 fell into my lap first. This is a really good thing. I have always wanted an Interceptor.

    You are never too old

I’m 68 and I have had my VFR for almost a year. I’ve fallen off once, and broken an ankle and damaged my knee, but me and my VFR are now okay. I haven’t ridden since a was 20, so it is a learning experience which I am thoroughly enjoying. Obviously I didn’t realize how much I needed to learn.

Bikes are not what they used to be…

I enjoy the huge acceleration, and excellent brakes of my 1990 VFR. I know that later bikes will be significantly better, but what I’ve got is plenty for me to cope with. I think she looks great, and I enjoy improving my riding skills each time I go out. I consider myself to be very lucky to be able to start riding again after all these years. And I will enjoy growing old with her. I can’t think of anything better to do….can you?

I'm 58 and still ride my 83 long trips and all. It cracks me up some of the looks I get when I take my helmet off. "He's an old guy!"
As if we're dead or something. Just ask Joey or GR if old guys are slow.
I'll tell ya when I was your age....................:vtr2:

    Not old yet

:biggrin:I'm 63, and while I haven't been kneedragging since the late seventies, I still ride a lot, given that it's too icy to ride from November to March or April in the high Colorado mountains. (they plow out the high jeep roads in the San Juan Mountains in late June)
My 23 Y.O. and I plan on doing an Iron Butt thousand miler this late spring. Some people are old and waiting to die when they hit 45, and others hope to go while doing their favorite thing, which means, of course, that you should do that lots to improve the odds.

Wow .... I am 46 and it looks like I am in the younger 1/10th of the group. Definitely alot of older (mature), wiser and smarter folks riding the VFR.

46 here as well with a 2003 VFR800. Just getting into riding again. Folks say I should have started with something smaller but back when I rode, I never had anything smaller than a 750. The wife is fully on board and has her own bike.
