    Old guys riding VFRs

    I bought my '91 new at age 43, am still riding it now that I am past 60. I don't like getting pulled over by Law Enforcement Officers, but must admit I do get a charge out of it when it happens these days--the surprise on the officer's face when I pull off my helmet and he sees a geezer where he expected to find some young squid.

    By the way, the '91 was my first motorcycle. I had fully intended to trade as soon as I found another sportbike I liked better. Never happened, 'tho I had the money. Yeah, bikes are quicker, faster, and lighter now but the looks, workmanship and detailing on my '91 are unsurpassed in my opinion.

    Regards, Ralph Boineau in central South Carolina

    43 now and have never owned or considered anything less sporty than a VFR. Ride with a 68 year old who routinely roosts 20 year olds on GSX-R's on his Voyageur. The looks we get when we pull off the helmets at the end of a run or track session is hiliarious. Then, they look at us like we are the cool ones for still living life. The amount we learn spending weeks of saddle time on VFR's is way more valuable than 20 minutes on a gixxer.

    Live young, be young.

    WOW! This silly question turned into an interesting thread. :thumbsup: Some pretty good posts about riding history. I am still enjoying the read, even though it served it's purpose long ago!

    Keep them coming! :wink:

    My brother is 66. He owns a Ducati 748 and a Ducati ST2, as well as a VF1000R. He just sold his 750 Monster and his 900SS. He loves my 2004 VFR. "Smoothest sportbike I ever rode!" he says.

    Well. judging by this thread I must be riding an old farts bike. And to think I bought it because it was a good bike that split the difference between an RR and a MultiStrada and is built by Honda.

    Next time I'll be sure and take into account popular opinion..........Not.

    Guess thats why I drive a pickup truck as a daily driver, pretty sure that by definition youre not supposed to care too much about a truck.

    I remember reading about the SAS in Aden. I served in Cyprus and sometimes worked with your colleagues(well, Army) in '89 - 90.

    We have a Canadian veterans motocycle club, they have a dispatch rider on their emblem: The C.A.V.

    Guys,
    This thread has taken on a uiqueness of its own.....and if I may do an addendum to my original post......some where back in time past I was en-route to my old Spring ritual of Daytona .....I was in my mid thirties as I recall and had stopped in a rest stop that some BMW folks had set up and were offering coffee to all who stopped in. I had done that left them a gratuity and was sitting on the tail gate of my old '77 F150 when in rolled a fellow I later found out was in his early 80s on a old BMW...so what age is there to stop riding another question that begs an answer.....There was another "older Gent" who rode Connies ,lived down South in,N.C. wore one out and was on a second or third when he left us..Don was up there but he rode.....I think as long as I can get a leg over which ever bike I can of the four I have I'll be riding...hope you all will be too....Merry Christmas one and all and a Happy New Year.....
    Rodm850g:thumbsup::thumbsup:
