I don't know where you got that quote from. I never wrote that.

5: Chrome - I remember walking into an HD dealer one day and a kid came up to greet me and his nametag said 'Chrome Consultant'. I started laughing until I realized it was serious. I even felt bad about laughing at him but man that is really bad to have to use a chrome consultant. Maybe they should shop at Pottery Barn too.

Entertaining thread. BZ I agree with you, almost everyone could do with some training. But I'm also in the its your bike do whatever you want with it camp. I really enjoy seeing all kinds of mods. I don't like all of them but I really enjoy seeing all the different ways people can F up a perfectly good bike. I saw a mongrel 600 with an engine cage and a fake fur in my neighborhood the other day and followed the guy just to talk to him. Ended up riding down to an empty strip mall and watching him and a couple of friends tear it up for about an hour. I can't see doing that to a bike but it was fun to watch. In case your wondering, they rode to and from like normal people.

Stretch it, gut it, or blow it up; its your ride.

Funniest thing - people thinking their going to get extra money for the mods when they sell the bike.

    Fender Eliminators..

you know some of us DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE as our exhaust takes up the space of our entire tag bracket and fender was supposed to be.. so to use said aftermarket exhaust it had to be removed...
and since i no longer have a fender i have a tire hugger comming to protect the rear sachs shock.

    The idiotic mods:
    fur
removing a disc to show more chrome
    holes drilled in fairings
mods that the previous owner did in the past, that create a mess for you in the future
and that infamous gtr badge that belongs on nothing but a skyline

But, in the end, the good mods are the ones that you put on YOUR bike. Mods that put a smile on YOUR face. Because in the end it is your bike and not one person's opinion about your bike matters except your own.

I'm a big fan of "the pace". And while I don't really hang off my bike, I do get my butt off the seat and lean off the bike a bit in serious twisties. I don't ride fast enough IMO to HAVE to hang off the bike, and even if I could go that fast, I don't think I'd want to on public roads.

BTW, when I do lean off the bike a bit, I try to never let my head or any part of the bike cross the middle of the road/double yellow, or even the white line on the right side of my lane. I like to have a little buffer zone on each side, just in case!

Any mod that can't be reverted to stock without buying new parts . . . .

LOL! I wish I had a pic of that name tag.

More proof HD isn't about riding, but is all about image.

Tim, you can drag a knee at 25 mph. You don't need real high speeds to pull it off.

Just an FYI that is for informational purposes only:smile:

I love something Action brought up.

People think their bike is worth more with the mods they do.

Ask the PO of the 97 if he recouped his funds for the shot gun exhaust and chromed rims. Nevermind, I can answer that! Thats a big hell no.

Anybody have the link to the chrome VFR skulls with the black leather fringe for hair? The plastic ones are nice but only at a distance. Looking for real chrome and real leather. TIA.

Stripper Mudflaps... I'm starting to see those Dakar commuters with aluminum boxes with mudflaps to get them to the office. WTF?!

That almost sounds like a challenge, Bubba.

As for chrome, I have a buddy who has had a few small parts chrome plated on his 5th gen. It looks good without being too blingy IMO.
