I have been the proud owner of a Red 2001 VFR800FI that I picked up a couple years ago from an owner nearly as fanatical as I.Since that time I have tastefully personalized it,and I love seeing what others on this website have done to theirs. My favorite aspect of this bike is that I dont see many of them-I have gone to Laconia Bike Week and Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach,Florida and have not run across another.I look forward to gaining from your knowlege and experience.Thanx,JB5371

Hey, welcome aboard! I can relate to not seeing many other VFRs on the road. I've only seen one other VFR in my area, passed a nice either first or second gen a couple months ago and we excitedly waived at each other like a couple of dorks  .

I think of the VFR as an exotic machine for the middle class-it's kind of a cult bike.I don't see mine ever leaving my garage, but it may just get some company.Where else can you get all this technology in an affordable package?

Hi jb, welcome to the community. I don't see many here in KY. I have seen two others and know the owner's of two of the three i have seen. But they are few and far in between as for seeing them on the road. It's kinda nice in a way, at least to me, since I know that if I show up to a bike event somewhere, if it's not a VFR event, that I have a most excellent chance of being the only VFR there.

Appreciate the responses!!! Since removing all the decals(I like my machines clean)except the gas tank decals which are clearcoated, I am constantly asked ,"what is it?". I love the fact that not many recognize these bikes especially when they hear that V4. After almost 2 years, I still haven't found a bike I would rather have!

jb5371 -- I could not agree more about the VFR being a cult classic. I have not seen any around my town, and that is a good thing! I don't plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon to "upgrade". She's as good as its gonna get for me!

    Welcome to the club, brother.

I couldn't agree more that we are very rare and intelligent breed of motorcyclists. People always gawk at my 5g and say what a nice bike. They trip when I tell them it's eight years old. Most think it's brand new. Some have never even heard of the VFR800 when speaking about the bike I have. I'd wanted an interceptor for about three or four years and just got mine in May and have loved every second riding it. I also agree that it is definitely a middle class cult bike. We who are "in the know". LOL Welcome to the best VFR forum on the net.

Welcome, JB, there are quite a few Viffers here in Halifax Nova Scotia, everyone I talk too has great stories. This is a great place for info and some laughs as allot of the members are very knowledgeable. I just purchased my 2000 3 months ago, nothing but fun!

Welcome jb, I too like the fact that ours is an uncommon bike to own. I like the fact that not alot of people have one and I don't see one very often. It makes you feel unique. I hope you enjoy the site. There is alot of good info here and a great group of people.

I like that middle-class exotic... It's a great bike for those of us who can't throw around big chunks of money for every new bike that comes out... Maybe we should start giving the RC numbers when people ask what it is to make them sound even more exotic... Which is the 5g? RC36 or something? Or is that a totally different bike?
