" I did not run for office to help out a bunch of fatcat bankers from Wall street," sez he.

OH, yeah?? But he DID appoint 2 Wall street fatcat bankers to his Cabinet !!

Lawrence Summers and Robert Rubin, both from Goldman Sachs, were more responsible than most for the financial deregulation and irresponsible investment practices that ruined our economy, then looted our treasury.

Tim Geitner is not worthy of his post either, but is deserving of negligence charges in connection with his earlier government positions.

These appointments tend to prove that the country's ruling financial elite, not either party, actually make the key decisions running the economy.

    look
i'm less than awed with this process as well.
    but.

did you really expect all of the pilliaging to be returned to us in the first months? year? years?

gonna take a while to un-f#ck this mess......the economy that was falling off a cliff when Obama sat down in the Big Chair.

    another concern.

who controlls the access to information? with recent FCC changes - the sale of airwaves to cell phone providers - who controlls what news you hear?

Hint: it comes in a wire.

    this is not good.

It is an old song but a good one. May I suggest "Won't get fooled again" by "The Who". The lyric from that song: "Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss" was as true all those years ago (1971) as it remains today. You younger guys are at least not subject to the military draft lottery to help staff the latest wars.

It is really disheartening, but my 50+ years alive have taught me that when it comes to "orderly politics" the more things change the more they remain the same. You are so correct in your assessment. It is the men behind the curtain that run things. Who we get to vote for is part of the illusion of freedom they give out to the masses so we will keep running on the treadmill with little complaint.

Oh well, I do get to have my distractions that keep me from sitting on the tracks to wait for the next train. Pays to know what we can change and what we can't. Uh oh, treadmill sounds like it is gonna start any moment. Gotta go!

So do you really have enough money riding on the appointment of these guys that does you harm or like most amateur policy wonks is this just venting? Do you really believe that the Bush crew was not part of this financial mess we are in?

Then, we could talk about body count too. There, is a real Republican feather in anyone's tifoil cap.

So because a man isnt wealthy his opinions dont count. Sounds about right. Thats how everything should be judged

Sman has an Engilsh degree, not an MBA. Very few folks with English degrees are wealthy, Ivy League legacies excepted of course. You should have to perform some type of penance for your misspelling gaffe Sman.

These poltical threads never end well.

If I may make a suggestion to our mods, perhaps we could install a filter on the forum that turns the words Obama, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, etc into pictures of motorcycles and butterflies............

Scuse me now, I have yacht maintenence due and a small tear in my foil hat, which the CIA contractors will no doubt notice. Since Blackwater changed its name I've had to recalibrate every single hat!

Squirrelman, you surprise me. You actually believed Obama? So this is all your fault for voting for him. And it's not the capitalists who are doing the pillaging, it's our government, and it's getting worse every day.

Now go feed your squirrels and end this political rhetoric. This thread will be shut down before it really gets started.

P.S. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, friend! I've been reading up on squirrels and have a new appreciation for my backyard gray and ground squirrels thanks to you.

    Words vs. Actions....

    Interesting title and thought....

The problem with politics in this media era is that people vote for politicians based on words and "promises" instead of looking at their history, "actions", and associations. It doesn't matter what party they're from. No politician can promise anything in a democracy, and yet they do, and people fall for it.

But, here's one thing I think most of us can agree on.
