22 Degrees and you took your baby to the dealer? You are a die hard that is in love! Then they screw you over doing something that on a good day might have got you killed or worse? FIND ANOTHER DEALER!

I hate my dealer. Service Manager told me the bike had no presets for dampening the shocks front or back, nobody knew what the curb weight of the bike was (if they did they wouldn't tell me).

I'M looking for a real dealer that has a service center where they take their work seriously before I ever let them put a wrench on my girl, I suggest you do the same. What IF this was Summer and you left the dealer and got a flat at high speed?

Naa, I own the rock, but if I ever need a real shitkicker, I know who to call, mullet or no mullet.

I would not advise entering any favorite customer contest your local dealershop might be having. There would have to be at least a couple of folks who work there that might not like snitches all that well.

Reconstructing this tale of derring-do we have a windchill index of about one degree F at 40mph. We are talking the North Eastern US where snow and ice are, shall we say, not unusual. We are talking paying this shop that is apparantly well known for poor service to dismount a couple of wheels on a VFR? This from a guy who does all his own work aside from tire mounting.

Then we got your latitude and consequent short days, leaving ice patches where there might be a little sun for an hour or so a day and a joyride in those conditions on new rubber?

At least if it was Summer we could leave out the death wish part. IMO it would be much less dangerous and less expensive just to buy a hair shirt from one of those online San Francisco leather shops.

In your case, it'd be my pleasure to answer that call. As for those I do business with, it's real simple, do good work or be willing to own up and correct mistakes and I'm cool. Screwing me over is not well received and I could care less for the opinions of people pulling BS who like you, are full of shit. I promise to take your advice for what it's worth. :bs:

I've only been here on The Forum for a few months but I've already learned who it is best to completely ignore...The problem with BB is that a truly talented linguistic provocateur can tell some one to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip; unfortunately BB lacks the innate finesses that is required to pull it off.

Honestly, BB comes across as a very, very unhappy man who is most likely bereft of any true friends. Constant sarcasm is usually a sure indicator of deep-seated unhappiness and disappointment.

All jokes aside. I like to occasionally ride fast. My @ss is sitting on that bike. It's the only one I have, and I demand a certain amount of professionalism in a mechanic or especially a tire man. I just noticed the starter of this thread is from Maine? OMFG you are a hardcore. Maine in December?

You know, on the right bike (at least some wind protection) and with the proper gear it's tolerable down to the low 30s. I usually will layer with thermals, jeans, then either kevlar riding jeans or lined leather pants as an overpant. Our prime riding season is so short that if you want to really get some seat time in you have to do what you have to do to stretch out the season.

IMO, at the very least they should refund you the cost of the mount/blance/new valve stem for your troubles.....as this is something that they should have easily caught.

You'll love this. Too cold even for me to ride up to the dealer today as originally planned so yesterday I took off the rear wheel and after work drove up to the shop (the only non-Harley bike shop within 25 miles, btw) to have the stem replaced and the wheel re-balanced. They looked around the shop, couldn't find a stubby valve in stock, called NAPA and they didn't have one either so they ordered an OEM through Honda and want ME to pay the $15 less $2 credit for the incorrect one they installed. Granted, the VFR needs a shorter stem than most bikes (to clear the caliper) but they should have known that.

If I could justify the expense of buying a tire-changer and wheel balancer I would never have to go back to the dealer for any service, plus my garage is already full with 2 work benches and a commercial-grade shelving unit, a van, 2 VFRs, a snow blower, lawn mower, kid's bikes and toys, 3 large recycling bins, a kero space heater etc. As much as you hate to admit it some things you just can't justify spending the equipment on...

LOL.. You must be one of those scary guys out of a Tom Clancy novel. Mossad, KGB, Seal Teams maybe? Or are you casting yourself as a badass mofo just to entertain us? What exactly is your rating in the Junior Woodchucks?

So when you got this bad service did you make any attempt other than whining to the big boys at Honda America? I really don't think you know how things work. What probably happened is that corporate Honda told the dealership to fix it and the dealership shitcanned the tech. The smart move would have been IMO to wave the Warranty Act in front thier beadys but you would rather be Queen Of The Hop jump all bad, like you are the only one who got the shaft. Not real smart there Bubba.

The tech is the guy you should be watching for in your rear view mirror, not me. LOL

BTW, the phrase is "I couldn't care less." First used by playwright/actor, Noel Coward.

I have often wondered what is f'n wrong with a person that could look you in the eye and say such a ridiculous thing. Would have never crossed my mind to do anything but make it right and apologize for the inconvenience at the very least.

It's OK, I understand your concern.Getting nailed is a bit like hell. One might welcome just that on one of those 22 degree days on new rubber. I submit your tales of heroism in the face or Jack Frost are getting more and better response than the sophomoric attempts to emulate Go For A Ride.

That is what you are looking for here is recognition is it not?

I will admit that being psychoanalyzed by a guy who sells used cars is unique. "Well" should have done but honestly, "Honestly?"

By the way, Good William, what precisely does "sophomoric" mean? Nothing quite so pathetic as one who fancies himself a well-read intellectual yet litters his writings with mistakes...

One might conclude several hours would allow a more measured response than the above non sequitur.

If this is some sort or sales pitch attempting to generate interest in one of your bikes. I would advise anyone who takes the bait to be wary of buying any bike ridden in Northeast winter
weather will have salt damage. Better to look for a used rig elsewhere.

Sorry your attempt at psych 101 flopped. I should caution you that the chance for a guilt trip working is slim.

You really don't own a bike, do you? Several members have accused you of being full of BS; Everything I post is true but I'm not so sure about you. I'll tell you what, I'll run out to my garage and take a pic of my '04 sans the rear wheel (which is at the shop waiting on the valve stem) as proof of my honesty. I'll then post the pic in this thread.

While I do that you grab your camera (you do have a camera , right?) and go out and take a pic of your bike and post it. As Reagan said, trust but verify; just so you don't get the urge to Google a pic sit on the bike, take a pic of your instrument cluster and shoot the Peace sign with one of your hands so that it overlaps the cluster, so we can all see that it's a legit pic.

The result of this little exercise will be one of two outcomes: I will either say that I am wrong and you do own a bike OR you will be proven to be nothing but a Troll. So, are you game William?

I am so glad you figured out how to get that rear wheel off.
At least you didn't have to ask that. How bad did that dealership get in your pants to pull the wheels when you first took you bike in the other day?

Seen your bikes dude. They are in your avatar. We could compare salt damage though. I have both a 60mm Micro Nikkor and an old 55mm Micro Nikkor with the PK tube that still works on all Nikons made after 1948.

I still have to laugh at some of you guys from the East Coast who just have to be in charge of things all the time and never see it coming when the shit hits the fan.

Kudos for not asking me again for the definition of sophomoric.

Yep, I am going to program my camera, freeze my ass off in a cold shop, pose for a pic so you can jerk off to it, (the peace sign is not exactly what comes to mind) and play some silly games just because you sell used cars and got took by your local dealer? LOL

There is one pic of my VFR posted on this site that is a couple of years old. Maybe some of the other guys can help you find it. It's a 91. I bought it new and paid cash. The rubber is Dunlop and yes I pulled my wheels, and had a very trustworthy friend and super wrench mount the new rubber and do both a static and dynamic balance front and rear.

BTW..Like House says on TV. "Everybody lies." Thank you for proving him wrong.

I think what we have here is that you've read too many of those self-help sales books and believe everything those guys say. Most of them never really say what it is they sold other than books about sales, if you read between the lines. Unfortunately what the terminal product becomes is more BS and if one is not careful one starts believing that he can get away with saying anything anywhere and never get questioned.

Again returning to those thrilling days of yesteryear don't give up that day gig quite yet and try to ease into standup comedy. Check out a few places first. Those audiences can be brutal. The minute they can get you pissed you're toast.
