Hello all, Just picked up a red '99 VFR, perfect condition (never dropped, even in a driveway), 18,000 miles, new pilot power front tire, Metzler Z6 rear, and new chain & sprockets. I live in Independence MO. which is in the greater Kansas City area. I'd been looking for a VFR, and this one was too good a deal to pass up. Previous owner got a Harley, parked the VFR, then needed Christmas money and sold it to me for........$1500.00!! I rode it home, in 27 degree weather, just as it started to snow, 33 miles home. Good thing I've got the gear!
My history: 58 years old, this is approx. my 60th bike in the last 45 years. I had a '86 500 Interceptor, which I loved, always wanted a newer generation. I recently quit off road racing, mostly hare scrambles and enduro's and sold both my race bikes, both KTM200EXC's. I currently own a 2001 Kawasaki ZRX1200R, which is a real hoot, and a 1970 Moto Guzzi 750 Ambassator, also a hoot, a bike that returns me to my youth every time I ride it. So, I bought a shop manual, and this winter plan to remove all the bodywork, change all fluids, check valves, and detail it. Oh, it also has an Akropovic can and mid pipe. Sounds bad (bad = good). Nice to be here, now I need a couple warm days to get a real good feel for this thing!

Well I had been looking daily on Craigs list, and this was too good to be true, My friend John drove me to see it, and the minute he saw it he mutters under his breath..." buy it and go before he changes his mind". I cleaned it up the other day and it shines like a new dime! Can't wait too ride it some distance.

in my mind the 1999 VFR was the best year for everything except mirrors & that's easily fixed. Honda had 1 year of linked brakes behind them, and a manual choke . no cat.
$1500 - What a SCORE. your fun per dollar index is gonna be out of sight!

can you get a snowplow attachment ?

    Welcome to the site!

Geez, you have had a lot of bikes! You must turn them over pretty fast. Do you always buy them used?

That VFR is a screaming good deal. I thought I had stolen my VFR, but you are the Master!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the fine purchase. As others have stated, you got the deal of the century. Since you've had so many bikes throughout your life, I don't doubt you know a good bike when you ride it; thus I think you'll love this bike. Can't believe the PO bought a Harley and shelved the VFR. Sounds cooky.

    mikromo,

You da man! With the $$$ you saved you can upgrade your machine into one of the sweetest bikes in motorcycling.

I have owned about 45 bikes and think this is one of the best.

Upgrades?.....how about seat (Sargent), windscreen (Givi), R/R + fan (lots of info here), HeliBars (more comfortable ergos),
lower footpegs (ditto), cruise control (Throttlemeister) etc.

You are now a member of the elite '98/'99 Squadron. Congratulations and welcome aboard ~
