I just got this from a friend 80 dollars delivered it is an 1982 Yamaha SECA or XJ550. It does not run the front brakes don't work (master cylinder), the starter relay is gone but the starter does work when it is jumped and it needs a full carb rebuild and some TLC. It should be a good project I am going to get her road worthy and try to sell it this spring. Maybe it will be a starter bike for the wife who knows. The good news it is all there I have the side covers and all the parts. Anybody know a good xj550 message board?

Many, many times in the recent past I have resisted mightily the urge to bring a bike back from the days of my youth. After careful consideration I finally realized that although my patience level has gone up with age, the constraints on my time have too.

    I wish you luck.

Nice buy! I have just bought an 1981 RD250 as a winter project. The model is the first road bike I owned, so I am trying to re-live my youth. By the time I get it on the road, two strokes will be probably be banned. (cool!!) Good luck with it
