I have just ordered two new 2007 Interceptors. One with ABS for my wife to ride and the other without ABS for myself. We are both about 5' 6" tall 160 to 170 lbs. so I am looking for any suggestions on lowering kits, handlebar risers or touring windshields. Thanks and Ride Safe. OOPs, My typo-error, they are '07s
Not sure about lowering kits but they are available. I would ride the bikes for a bit before you start looking at bar risers and windsrcreens. VFR's offer a good seat position and wind protection stock. If after a bit you're not happy than look at heli for risers and a zero gravity double bubble for wind.
ive got a zero gravity touring screen, helibars, and i have rotated the triangle plates in the rear suspension linkage (which drops the bike close to an inch). its set up pretty nicey right now. you can easily slide the front forks up in the triple clamps as well... you can also get gen mar risers instead, but they do not raise up as high or bring the bars back at all. ive heard the sargent seat sits a little lower too. im thinking about getting a sargent seat and returning the suspension back to stock. have fun and welcome aboard!!!
I'm about 5' 7" with a 31" inseam, and don't have any issues with the seat height, if that is of any help. The bar position has grown on me, and I like it now. Windscreens are a mixed bag; use the "Search" feature and you'll get plenty of info.
Thanks to all. My wife has a 28" inseam and can't hold the bike up in the showroom. She has ridden a Triumph with a 30" seat height with some difficulty. She needs a shorter handlebar reach to be comfortable so she will spend more time in the saddle with me. I also ride a CBR600RR on the track so the aggressive position is not a problem for me but I would like out two bikes to be identical for the ascetics when we go on group rides or rallies.
I am 5'6" and switched to Helibars. While they are not cheap, I would highly recommend them. They will bring the grips up and back, and, at least for me, are very comfortable, even for 400+ mile days.
Not '06s. There's overstock of '07s but I'm not aware of any new '06s. Probably a typo by the OP? Congrats on your new bikes!!
There were still 06 bikes in the inventory somewhere even in Nov. 2009! "ordering" them might mean the dealer got them from somewhere else? Being slightly inseam challenged, I've looked at lowering, but my boot heels tough when I'm well forward on the seat.... check this thread... http://vfrworld.com/forums/sixth-generation-2002-2009/7836-lowering-kit.html
Welcome aboard! 3 options to lower your seat height: shave the foam of the stock seat(buy a used one first and shave the foam), triangle flip or lowering link. I'm 5'4 1/2" and am used to the seat height of the 6th gen vfr.
