Hey everybody. I've been riding for about a year and a half...just a beginner bike (250cc), and have actually put close to 10k miles on it. I'm looking for something that will probably be my last motorcycle. I want something that will last, and that doesn't have to be worked on all the time. If I use it to commute to work, it will see about 150miles a day.

I've been looking at the VFR800 for a while and have recently noticed that there are a number of places advertising 2007 models right out of the crates for about $7000. I am partial to the 25th anniv paint colors personally, but I'm really just looking for the absolute best price I can get.

Has anybody had any experience with those 2007 closeout deals ? I am in north/central Florida. I stopped at one place today that didn't quote me the numbers for the 07, but who had an '06 with 12k miles on her ...selling for 5999. Obviously I don't think I should pay that when I can get a brand new one for 6999.

Any thoughts ? I would LOVE to find one of those 25th anniversarys with hard bags for a great price. Does anybody know if the 7500 I've been seeing those for is the absolute best the dealer can do ?

    Thank you for your time.

Ditto! Love mine too! ++ on the RWB model. $7500 with hard bags is a GREAT price. Take the day off and go buy it. Hard bags are about $1100 from the factory.

Hey, sorry I misspoke. I've seen the 25th anniv for 7500, but that was without bags. If I found one with the bags, I would jump. I wonder if there is a deal like that out there! I wish there was a way to know what honda is offering these to the dealers for.

    Thanks for the replies!

Here is my opinion on the matter. The 2002-2008 models are pretty much the same bike with the exception of a few very minor changes. The 2002-2005 models had a wiring recall issued by Honda and the 2006 and on models have a slightly lower VTEC engagement point. Other than that the bike has remained unchanged by Honda over the past 7 years. These bikes are solid and well built and are known to be dependable and have a long lifespan with proper maintanence. Now I know you are partial to the RWB color scheme and $7000 is a great price for a new bike but keep in mind that new bike pricing also has a direct effect on used bike prices and there are tons of great deals on used bikes especially during the colder winter months. Motorcycles are considered by most people to be a "luxury" items and during bad economic times they are usually the first thing that people sell when they lose their jobs or are in danger of losing their homes. This often translates into the concept that one person's misfortune is another persons gain. I've seen some killer deals on used low mileage 2002-2005 models with all the aftermarket goodies already included for around $5000. So basically you have to ask yourself would you rather have a brand new stock 07 bike for roughly $7500 out the door or would you rather buy an identical bike for $2000-$2500 less that is a few years older but already includes aftermarket exhaust, power commander, fender eliminator, bar risers, hard bags, aftermarket seat, upgraded tires, etc??

Try using www.searchallcraigs.com to search all Craigslist cities at once and you might find a used bike within a few hundred miles of you for a good deal. Anything with less than 10k miles on it is pretty much as good as new in my opinion. Believe me the deals are out there, you just have to be patient in your search and also be willing to drive a few hours to get your new toy!

Where are you located btw?? If you update your profile with your location I'm sure other members can help you by keeping an eye open for good deals!

    Regards,
    Rollin

Since you are in Florida, it might be worth your drive up to Chattanooga, TN to visit Southern Powersports.
    Here's a link for you:
    Southern Honda Powersports: Unbeatable.

The were blowing out the 07 RWB for 6683.00 but the ad says they are out of them.
It might be worth a call to see what else they might have in stock in the VFR line.
They are one of the Souths MAJOR dealers with the best prices because of volume.
    Good luck in your search.

    Hey everybody,

Sorry, personal info has now been updated. I'm in Jacksonville, FL and work in Gainesville, FL.

Wow, thank you all so much for the info.... TOE CUTTER, Rollin_Again, GeorgiaRider, motorhead1977, Action, ddavidson, and Scubalong....I'm really impressed with the speed/amount of response and quality of info I've found here.

Rollin, you really did cover it for me. In parts, its as if you were reading my mind. Here is a link to what looks to be an awesome deal like you're talking about...only its in Oregon. Awesome buy it now price of $4000 and 13000 miles isn't bad. Only problem I have is distance and the inherent trouble confirming legitimacy of all info. Still, I'm right there with you on the idea of saving 30% on a 'slightly used' one. I am going to check that wide search on Craigslist tonite before I go to bed.

    Honda : Interceptor:eBay Motors (item 230407119034 end time Dec-09-09 13:25:40 PST)

GeorgiaRider, wow ! did you see that they said it was an ABS version too !! Wow ! I had no idea it could be had for that kind of money. Thats definitely not too far to drive for the deal. I might send them an email to see what they still have. I wonder what kinds of fees would've been on top of that tho. Thats where so many shops lose my interest.

ddavidson, I checked out those posts. Very nice ! Talk about low miles too !

I've got to step away from the computer for a few minutes, but should be back tonite to check out everybody's gallery and such.

    Thanks again everyone.

Let me give you some friendly advice....The VFR is a wonderful all around machine but I wouldn't advise buying one on Ebay unless you've already test ridden one with the VTEC engine. The VTEC engine debate is heated among VFR owners and you will find a wide range of opinions on the subject ranging from people who love it to people who hate it to people who don't give a shit either way. The only way to know for sure if the bike is going to be right choice for you is to test ride one. Once you decide on the bike distance shouldn't be an object for you since you can have the bike shipped coast to coast for around $500 which is not unreasonable especially if you get a great deal on the purchase price. In addition to this we have forum members all over the US and many of them are more than willing to go check out a bike for you prior to purchase to make sure it's description and condition are accurate.

    Regards,
    Rollin
