Thanks for the translation. I was sitting here trying to read it to my son and was nearly in tears from laughing so hard!

    174 indicated

The following story probably didn't happen, but just in case it did, the names of the persons involved have been changed and/or taken out completely. In the wee early morning hours we strategically set up communications and checkpoints using ambulances every 3 miles along a fairly straight 15 mile stretch of highway. Anyway, "Hector" passed the first checkpoint at 160 indicated and he did not let off the gas one bit until 4th check point at 12 miles and at this time his bike indicated to him that he was going 174mph. Has anyone else "wound out" a 6th gen VFR800? This particular bike is stock execpt for a BMC air filter and +2 on the back. So the million dollar question is how do I... I mean How does "Hector" set up the equation to solve for true miles per hour vs. indicated miles per hour. "Jones" forgot to hit the stop watch at the 15 mile marker so the total time is believed to be off from anywhere from 5-55 seconds. So all we know is that it took >5.5 but <7 minutes to complete 15 miles. At this time we are unable to solve for average speed due to this stopwatch error but should be able to solve for true top speed, correct?
Fact: 174=highest "indicated" mph during experiment.
    Variables:
stock speedo is already off by as much as 10% (from info gathered on this site)
    +2 on rear sprocket

all the above plus a one down three up sprocket kit will make 170 very easy to "indicate" lol

Still getting used to this bike. I love it. I have had it for about 2 months. I have put just over 2000 miles on it already. Yesterday I was riding down a back road in Ingles, FL. It was a nice dry day no one around so I opened up the throttle. After a few seconds I let of the gas and looked down. I was going 130 MPH! I couldn't believe it. My SV650 gets a little scary around 100. This thing was rock solid and wanted to go faster... Can't figure out why I waited so long to get one.

My experience is that the buffeting seems to dissipate after 145 MPH or so.

    How fast?

125 mph here this summer on my 85 700 bone stock. could probably shake a few more out of it but I would rather ride friends bikes this fast.

My buddy rides an 85 Honda Shadow 700. Whenever someone asks him how fast his bike will go he says 125 if you push it out of an airplane.

    Ride on my V4 friends.

I've had my stock '02 to an indicated 140mph on a back road. It had some left. So I'm thinking that the top speed of 155mph is pretty accurate.

After being overseas for a few years now, I wish the U.S. would go metric. I remember back in the 70's maybe early 80's we tried, and it went over like a fart in church. To me, metric makes so much more sense. I think America has a few things to learn from the Europeans. Not that we've got it wrong, but we could be doing better. Plus km makes it sound like we're going faster!!!!!
