long time lurker, first time poster

Hey gang-
New to the VF500F, but not to motorcycling. Live in LA, CA. Got an 85 version that I've been burning up the emails and phone lines to Jamie about a few times already. Bought it on ebay 18 months ago from Dallas area, been in a friends local garage ever since. Finally had it shipped to me in CA about 2 months ago. Completely bone stock, I'm 2nd owner, 12k miles. Original owner was meticulous, took records of every single oil change, and he rode it from 85 to 95 and garaged it for 13 years till I got it. I've got a full V&H to go on it, and a full LP lower. Probably gonna be an xmas break project.

But...despite all of this, I don't have a Corbin seat. Would also love a dark tinted windscreen as well. This my reason for saying "hello."

yeah...the world of ebay, right? I passed on one like this (85 version again though his had 8k on it) about 2 years ago b/c the owner and I were $200 apart and neither would budge. So I let it go. But then again, his didn't have the OEM seat cowl either.

Thanks all. I've also got a flawless (is there any other way?) 94 VFR750 as well, but lately she's been sitting since I got the 500 here. Also a ZX-10 with 85K and a SV650S I could roll in the Guggenheim tomorrow. All of them have been parked since I became a 500 fan all over again. In fact, probably need to pick up some Stabil or Seafoam today so I don't run into carb issues on the other ones since they're sitting lately...

'90 version. Bought new in 90. LOVE that bike. Been coast to coast on it many times. I can do 1200-1300 mile days without getting off it, only standing up for gas fills. Big bore kit, race cut tranny, full V&H, K&N, balanced & lightened crank, and too many more to list. It's a real screamer. Every time "ZX-10 week" comes up in rotation for commuting I get off it @ work, wet myself, cry aloud in the parking garage like an 8 year old girl, and swear to myself that I'm taking the bus back home.

Then 5 pm comes and I forget all about the am commute, and have perma-grin all over again.

But it is nasty. I can't keep rear tires on the thing b/c every right-on-red leaves long lurid black marks.

*Key West, huh? I lived in Miami for a while (2 years/11 hurricanes). Rode to KW a few times to dive (I'm a SCUBA instructor as a hobby.) Really like Key Largo/Pennekamp. Did many a wreck dive off KW/Miami. Liked Dry Tortugas as well. Also...that clothing optional bar upstairs on Duval...Garden of Eden?*
