bad cam question

General engine question.

If there is a knock specifically coming from one cyl, coming from the cam area, what is broken?

 

your hearing?

Describe the knock. Or could it be a tick that is miscalled a knock? Which cylinder? You sure it's coming from and not going to?

You must be more specific. Otherwise your just another dummy hack out there.

 

definatly a knock rather than a tick, 2nd or 3rd cylinder.

it got better when the carbs where clean, but putting a screwdriver on the manifold you can definatly feel it.

 

You need to pull the valve cover and inspect the cams , followers and the spilt gear that takes up the backlash. The springs in the split gear will need to be inspected closely. Let us know what you find , but pointless until you get the cover off.

 

sounds like it might be a little beyoned my current skill level.

i might be getting an offer to trade the bike for a running, newer, smaller bike. might not be the best deal but it would get my wife a bike. i dont knwo waht to do.

the bike didnt cost much so either way id make a profit on it. but that isetn really the point.

 

OFF TOPIC, BUT I'M HAVING THE DRY HEAVES: Toe Cutter! Any way you could see yourself clear to changing your avatar? My toe hurts for at least an hour every time I see it. Is that your toe? How the f*ck did you manage that? (I'm too lazy to do a search.)
