Hello everyone, my name is Eelco and i've come to join your ranks VFR-owner. About 2 months ago i've saved a second generation vfr750 from the scrapyard. Someone had abandoned the poor thing in their backyard for five (!) years without so much as a cover, resulting in this:

I've been wanting a VFR for over a year now and I could get this one for the symbolic amount of 40 euro's. First i gave it a good wash, which made her look like this:
    vfr2

First thing I did was see if I could get the mill to run, so with a new battery sparkplugs and gas I gave it a try. (After adding some oil to the cylinders of course). And within a few tries she came to life! Of course with an earsplitting sound as the exhaust was totally rusted through, which made me grin from ear to ear and the whole neighborhood come out and see where the motoGP sound came from :D.

Anyway, after that I set off restoring her, i've taken her totally apart. I've fitted new downpipes, and some original silencers (which i'm gonna replace with some better ones once i have the money). Refurbished the brakes, checked the electrical system and generally fixed everything. It's coming along nicely and i'm almost done, except for restoring the damage to the right fairing, which you can see here:

The main thing that I noticed is the stunning build-quality of these things, I mean 5 years of backyard-work should destroy a lot of things, but apart from the exhaust-system, much of the bike was actually in good shape and some things as good as new! Plus everything is so well-engineered, stuff doesn't just break off when I twist it (experiences i had with my old 1986 xj600). I absolutely love this bike!
