    Hi gang,
I wonder if you could do me a favor. I had my ride apart for about a year, and in putting it back together, I couldnt determine which way the rubber shield over the shock mount goes. Its about a 6 inch by 6 inch piece of rubber. It is non-symetrical and has a hole in it. It may allow air to the shock. To find it, look on your bike between the rear of the tank and frame, looking toward the header and the shock. Is the shield hole on the left side(shock side) or right side (header side) on your bike. I have a factory manual and it isnt clear from that either.

    - Another curiousity, is your shock hot to the touch after a ride?

The hole is on the left side to allow for the wiring to get to the tank sending unit and the pump. I routed the overboard drain through it as well.

A little late sorry, I hope this helps!

Yes - my shock is so hot I can only touch it for a second! It seems to be a combination of heat transfer from the exhaust and the shock working. The spring is also hot, but not as hot as the shock. The roads my way are pretty bumpy and I am beginning to think my shock is a bit stuffed!
