eh, not running that hard really, this would be 2/3 pace actually. Tracking the VFR has it rarely below 9K rpms, mostly running between 10 and 12,500 (in the red). Hard rev limiter comes in at an indicated 12,800

Dang, I would never subject my motor to that much abuse, but a dedicated track bike, maybe. Impressive nonetheless. Very smooth riding, but that's to be expected from a pro like Freddie Spencer. Beta: you ride your 999 in the red like that? Does the 999 even have the redline indicated on the tach? My dad's Multistrada and ST4s don't.

999 does not have a redline on the tach, stock the shift light blinks at 10K and a very hard rev limiter( boat anchor ) kicks in at 10,500. With the Ducati Race ECU (comes with S and R models) it moves the rev limiter up to 11,000.

VFR engine as 11K miles (5K on the track) it is not at all a dedicated track bike, and other than the pipe and HH pads on the front w/ stainless brake lines, it's totally stock. I have ridden it on the track on a Sunday and commuted to work on a Monday. The "downside" is that I change the oil and filter every 2000 miles when using it on the track.

I dont consider this at all to be abuse as the engines (cared for) are good for 400K miles
