    awesome.......

I want to share with you drewl one of my experiences with life flight crew (2) to be exact..

two years ago I wqas on my way home from a long couple of days working in LA. As I was on the last leg, about 20 miles from home I saw smoke rising from an accident. I ripped up the inside shoulder to the "front of the collision" to help with the fire. as it turns out it was a car fire due to impact. a CHP officer that had been on a traffic stop was hit by the car and flung into ditch. As I stabilized his head and neck. I watched his life slipping away. what seemed like an eternity ( about five /ten minutes) I heard the most comforting sound 2 life flight helos were on station and trying to land. a freeway you think would be an easy place but the accident was on the coastal hiway next to the hills. anyway I watched these pilots land these birds just like falling rocks only it was more like a combat landing... within seconds the flight nurse walked up and took control of the situation with more calmness and poise then I have ever seen in a medical person.. They (he and the paramedics) stabilized the officer and got him out of the ditch and into the helo and were gone in what seemed like seconds.... I have no doubts that the officer would have died if he had to travel the 5-6 miles back to the hospital in a ground unit...

The father of your friend Clint is right.... no quitting allowed....... you guys have people to save that don't even know it yet.....

Clint Reger's service is this afternoon at 2. If you are praying folk, please do.
If you are not, good thoughts, good ju ju and good mojo are greatly appreciated.
Sacrifices to foreign gods will not be accepted.
    Thank you.

Oh, on a moto related note:I have Clint to thank for my VFR. If it were not for him. I would not have this bike. And more importantly, I would not know all of you who have been so good to me over the last 2 years.
The group memorial is to be held tomorrow right in front of the huge American flag in my avatar.

OK. That is done. Snow and 70 mile an hour winds be damned.
    One more brother to salute.
    I love you, man.

that sucks. we had the same thing happen to a crew in SE missouri when I just got started in nursing and was wanting to become a flight nurse... The rest of the company kept on flying and I think they have been accident free for 10 years now, but the possibility is always out there...

I hope you are holding up ok through this, Drew.

None of us have any illusions about the danger of what we do.
We do it so others do not have to.
Tomorrow morning Mountain Lifeflight will be in service with one airplane to serve our community. In the coming months we will rebuild and be stronger. I am already seeing positive things come from this tragedy.

We will not let them down.

That's an awesome tribute. At each of the monthly meetings at the FD that I belong to, we have a moment of silence for all the FF/EMT/Paramedics that have lost their lives. Each month I say a little prayer for those that relentlessly put themselves in harms way to protect and save lives. I am grateful that there are fellow brothers and sisters out there that do this and keep on doing it. We don't do it for the money, Lord knows that you won't be a millionaire being a Paramedic. We do it because we like to help people. It's knowing that we are doing the right thing. It's seeing someone at their worst, and bringing a smile to their face because you just pulled them out of a burning building, or extricated them from a motor vehicle that was upside down on the side of the highway. We do it because we want to be their for people and we want to make a difference in the world. Thank you again for what you do brother.
