stop sliding on drivers seat ?

I have started wearing my winter textile trousers and I keep sliding all over my drivers seat, any tips on best material to put on seat as a temporary measure till I start wearing my leathers again.

I have a stock seat and might go for a seargent in the long run, but am short of the readies at the moment and would like a quick fix over the winter.

 

Duct tape. Or crazy glue. Yup, I notice the same thing but it doesn't seem to bother me. Cept when I pour on the coals and fall off the back. I keep saying I am going to get a Sergent or a Corbin but it has been over three years now and going into my 4th season of winter drivng. The stallion is going to be plum worn out before I get around to getting the seat.

I can't think of anything that you could apply to your seat that would not Fug things up and make a mess. You might try stretching some cloth of some sort tight over the seat but I think that would look rather tackey.

 

Easy way, lift up the vinyl, take an electric carving knife and cut the foam so it forms a little scoop towards the rear seat. Reinstall vinyl and pull tight, instant non-slip now with a little step at the rear seat.

I would suggest sewing a patch of denim...of maybe suede leather across your bum..... if that don't work...velcro

 

Just a thought. Those little pads they sell to hold your cell phone to the dashboard really grab. One of those on the seat might be enough to keep you in place.

 

At a stationary Supply Store look for a clear desk matt that has a piece of rubber beneath the clear plastic. You know, for keeping pitures and the such in place under the matt. Put this on your seat and staple to the underside of the saddle. Think maybe?

 

My Sargent seat is much slicker than my stock seat was.
Maybe try griping your tank with your knees.

 

The quickest and easiest non-damaging fix is to buy some of the tacky rubber material that is used under area rugs to keep them from moving around. You should be able to find it at most home stores. Just cut it down to size and lay over your seat and you should be good to go!!

Hi chaps

I scored a fitted sheepskin seatcover... a bit of stretching and grunting to get it on, and it ties in 3 places across under the seat.

Fixed the slippery issue nicely....
... and nice and cushy on the tender bits
... AND no more burning bum if you park in the Aussie sunshine.. :biggrin:

the problem isnt you seat. grip the tank with your knees.

 

I eventually bought an oxford rubber blanket which we use in England to throw over the back and sides of your bike to stop throwover panniers rubbing on the paintwork.
I cut a small piece to fit over my seat and superglued it undereach side and it works a treat.

 

The company that makes Thermarest camping mattresses also supplies a spray on grip to stop one sliding off the mattress in the throws of, well, active camping!

Works a treat and is invisible.

Just be glad you are not on a Kawasaki Z750S...that stock seat was tilted down towards the tank so EVERY slight deceleration made me crunch against the tank. Thank goodness I wrecked that bike before it wrecked me!

 

I have the same problem on my 6th gen, with a seargent seat. Stomp grips are on the list of goodies to buy next.
