Because writing someone a ticket for 55 in a 45 isn't really a safety issue, it's just a tax. Speed Cops are just the tax man, wanting you to pay for a victimless crime.

so we should just throw away all traffic laws? maybe just the ones that you don't agree with. rules are made to keep the world civilized..... break them, bend them and get caught...pay the price.. its simple. Think of it as paying your stupid tax.....you were being stupid ...now you have to pay...

what about the person that drives 35 in a school zone? do they "deserve" a ticket?

and speeding is not always a victimless crime....

DUIs and Tailgating are truly dangerous and I agree with laws against those.

However, speeding, jeez, that's a real touchy subject. Check out this killboy.com blog entry: http://killboy.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-09-09T00:54:00-04:00

Note this text: All but maybe one of the 10 fatalities this year on 129 (4) and Hwy 28 (6) were not over the speed limit.

I understand getting a speeding ticket if you're hauling ass through a school zone where kids are present and walking around. But what about an empty country road in the middle of nowhere?

Why, check out this criminal in this youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMcDnPbu4n0

Oh, and this criminal is yours truly, yes I really must be stopped before I endanger someone. sheesh And note this criminal has zero accidents in a 13 year span. Wow, what a mass murderer.

Speeding on sparsely trafficated interstates, low volume limited access highways, and lonely country roads should be mandatory. That's the rule I follow to the letter.

okay your a criminal...... we all know that.... WOW 13 years good for you... I haven't had a bike accident in over 19 years so what does that say? absolutely nothing. I didnt say "go patrol every back water road and nail people to the wall" hell if I were to stop you for speeding as long as you werent an asshole you would probably walked away with a warning. but double the speed limit on a freeway.....you get what you deserve...(not you in particular, you is a general term here). and what the other deaths werent because of speeding> I'm sure that there were a couple of "ridiculous traffic laws" broken like crossin the double yellow.."reckless" driving maybe even one that layed his bike down on a turn all by himself and then got run over by a car coming around the corner....

hell I got pulled over for doing 80 thru two school zones on a backwater road.. you now what I got.....a warning.... if he was gonna give me a ticket i would have taken it and said thanks. he speed zone went from 65 to 20 back up then back down in about a mile or less.. I was to busy talking on my phone to pay attention.

Speed on a country road if you want... be my guest... hell I probably would be right behind you... but just prepare to pay for it thats all I'm saying...

    Peace

everybody in this thread has gone over the speed limit, and knew about it.
did they march right down to the station and confess and ask for a fine?

    nope.....

every body speeds, and no body wants to pay the fine, the copper enforces that fine, so naturally, they are the enemy.

Hey, great idea. I'll just start mailing the police checks everytime I speed or fail to signal.

Geez... I thought leaving the airport employee lot was sketchy, now I'm not so sure about the air.

The Crown Vic's got a radio. The county's got a Bell Jet Ranger and a Huey. The state's gotta fleet of Cessna 206's with FLIR and they also have BMW's. With radios. Last but not least, the local news have Eurocopters, Jet Rangers, MBB's and believe me, if they see a story in the making, they'll make one!... And then there's the rain 11 months out of a year in Washington state!

I'm thinking this is a troll, but whatever.

Just man up, roll off the gas and take the ticket.
While you're playing testosterone rocket to avoid a $100 ticket, someone out there may actually need HELP from the scarce public resources.
A few weeks ago a local cop climbed up a ladder into a burning house to try and save one of my son's football buddies (too late, unfortunately). You're calling them the enemy!? WTF?

What a heart warming story about courage and bravery. Something like that should have made the Beacon.

I do not know what color the sky is on the planet you live on but I'M certain it's beautiful. In this world over 95% of police and state cops are either corrupt and brutal or quasi military wanna be types that are armed revenue seeking mindless autonotons of small governments that rely on your financial input to survive.

Now if being curious who is driving what and what'll she do is wrong in your opinion so be it. I have always strenuously supported the right of every man to his own opinion, however different that opinion might be to mine. He who denies to another this right, makes a slave of himself to his present opinion, because he precludes himself the right of changing it.

Did you read the one today online about the cop using a Taser on a 10 year old girl?

Hmmm, While I do not live on and/or near AndyJ's planet. I'm very glad I do not live on and/or near MiddleAgeCrazy's planet.. 95% of the cops are corrupt?

Sounds like a bad movie to me... My run ins with the police are as such to be very pleasant... My main route to work is #3 on SpeedTrap.org In the last year I have been pulled over 3 times by Amherst PD and each time I have walked/driven away with no ticket or even a warning.. I treat my officer with dignity and respect and not as "The Enemy" and guess what? they treat you with dignity and respect...

I'm Not sure what Twilight zone area or "Bizare Dimension" you live in but I'm certainly glad that Amherst PD that has been accused as the biggest revenue generator for tickets in NH has decent people who respond well to a polite citizen...

There are far more corrupt people in my world then there are corrupt cops... And that is a fact... Treating a cop like an enemy will only put his radar on super sensitive.. Treat him politly and respond to his questions because what really are you hiding?

Cop: Know why I pulled you over?
Good response: Well Officer, I might have gone through that red light cause I was worried the truck behind me was not going to stop.
Bad Response: I have no idea... (Roll your eyes and of course say it with contempt)

While I supose in your world where 95% of your cops are corrupt I suppose you would default to my axample of a "Bad Response." But even in your world if you treat them with respect and "kill them with Kindness" maybe give some slick 50 and I'll bet your world would be a bit happier...

OK...I've said my Piece...Tinki-Winki just called and said we need to run in the fields.....
(My World is at peace.) After that I'm going to go dump some Slick 50 in my exhaust and get me 200 more horsepower... Cause that's how we roll in my world... Yeah Baby.... That's how we roll.... :p

I have avoided some tickets with a good attitude in my car. No doubt having good correct polite answers are a good thing.

Maybe 95% is a high guesstimate, let's just say the figure is high.

I have never had a speeding or other ticket on any my bike.

I'M old, I never speed. I love my wife,I love my job and I respect my supervisor (and my tractor is paid for).
