We lost three heroes last night.

My heart goes out to the crew and their family and friends. It's tragic; especially when it involves people who I believe are the true heroes in our society. Godspeed...

 

Sorry to hear drewl. Those guys save so many lives.

 

It is indeed sad anytime we hear of the loss of someone who has something in common with ourselves. Here we have three people who have no agenda other than to provide assistance to someone who may be in need. And I am sure, had they had the opportunity to do it all over again, they may have made changes in some things they have done throughout their lives, but I am equally confident they would have chosen the same career path.

My thoughts go out to the families, friends and co-workers of those three fine people. And whether you knew them or not, Drewl, to you too.

A fine man from Ohio many years ago once wrote, "Service to humanity it the best work of life." I agree.

I am sorry for you too Drew, and I don't have the right words other then that.
I think that paramedics are heros and I am sorry that three heros are lost.

Like you Drewl...I am at a loss for words...my thoughts are with you guys and the families of the fallen.

I'm with Bear, shocking story.

 

I cannot sleep, so I will share.

Around 2 am 11-14-09 Our helicopter was returning to base after transporting a patient to the major medical center in Reno. They were flying the route that we have flown literally thousands of times. The sky was clear and beautiful and the winds were calm. A short distress call was received
And they were no more.
There was nothing to be done. The investigation continues, but a catastrophic mechanical failure is most likely the cause.

I lived with these guys. They were my partners. My friends. One of the reasons I am still here doing what I do. We have laughed together and cried together for the last 4 years.
Chris was the first person I spoke to when I arrived in California. I looked forward to each shift we shared. He made everything fun. I could count on him when the shit was hitting the fan.
Clint was my friend, my confidant, my mentor, my role model, and best of all...the reason I have a VFR.
Jim was our most experienced helicopter pilot. He had more hours in that type of aircraft than anyone in our company. He laughed all the time. He is one of 2 pilots I have ever shared a drink with(a rare honor for me).

Mountain Lifeflight is a small company filled with truly awesome people. We lost a huge chunk of our family in one short moment.

I must thank all of you who called and sent emails. I got so many calls yesterday from you guys in which the first words were, "I am so glad you answered your phone!"
VFRWorld is most definitely made up of the best people. I love you guys.

Drewl, I am very sorry for your loss and for the families involved. My family will include all of you in our prayers. I know this must be a tough time and all I can think of to say is I'm sorry for your loss. Doesn't sound like much I guess. Time will pass and emotions will heal but we never forget those who had an impact on our lives. Remember the good times and try to let their legacy live on through you and your deeds.

Words seem thin at times like these, but are rally all we have my friend. I am so very sorry to hear of this horrendous loss Drew. I will keep their families, and you, in my thoughts and prayers. May these true heroes rest in peace.
