Live in Cody, Wy. I have a '99 and have had it for 2 years now and love it. The bike had only 9,000 miles on it. Has Yosh exhaust, Corbin seat and PIAA driving lites. I am 67 years old and have ridden bikes for 54 years. The VFR is by far the best bike I have ever owned. I am getting ready to upgrade the front suspension using the Race teck springs and Gold kit. I hope this takes some of the musyness out. I ride with guys half my age and they are all on sport bikes. I can hang in there with them, sorta. At least I can keep them in sight. Hopefully the suspension upgrade will let me run alittle closer to them. I do allright for an old fart. The Cody area is blessed with some great roads and the cops cut us some slack as long as we don't get stupid. Would really like to get a Duc but they are so expensive to buy and maintain. The VFR is a good compromise. Keep the ruber side down
I hope to reach old fart status some day! I spoke with a older gentleman yesterday when I stopped for lunch in Leipers Fork, TN. He was 80 years old and was admiring my 98 VFR. He said he had just sold is BMW R750 this summer and he solely missed his bike, but age had caught up with him. If I make it that far I can die with a big grin on my face. I will be 45 next month. I had no idea what a BMW R750 looked like so I google it up. CLASSY - BMW - R750 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! There is another one at the bottom of this page. Interesting looking bike. OKAY not only are you an old fart your senile too...where is the bloody picture?:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: we like pictures here.... oh yeah ..welcome to the asylum
Guys, remember . . . We don't stop riding motorcycles because we get old, we get old because we stopped riding motorcycles.
Welcome aboard!! I too wanted a Ducati at one point but then I decided that being able to walk upright after an all-day ride was more important than having a flashy, undependable bike that was way too expensive to maintain  Regards, Rollin
WELCOME. you and Monk are great because you make me feel like a young'n. Cool. I met a couple at a service plaza on I-90 once and they were touring the USA on their 1966 Harley Electra-Glide. He was 82 and she was 80. They were by far the coolest couple I ever met. And, no they were at the service plaza for a rest and snack, not repairs/service. He told me that his Harley (which he bought new in 1966) only needed oil changes and points adjustments every so often, just like the cars with points ignition did. Also told me that he could buy the points set at any auto parts store - same as were used in a Chevy 250 six cylinder. I hope to live close to that long, though I got a quote for some term life insurance yesterday that included a rate that said if I wanted to buy $500,000 in insurance at age 87 it would only cost me $512,755 per year! YOU BETCHA!
Welcome, gcp850! What took you so long! It's nice to have another VFR in the area (I'm in Billings, so not that terribly far). We'll have to get together sometime as I still haven't gotten around to doing the Beartooth Highway. I work at MT Honda, so if you happen to need anything, give me a holler.
