I'm thinking Honda is going to cancel the VFR completely. We were supposed to get a complete redesign in 2006. Got 2 new colors. 2007? 2 more new colors. I have to admit, I like both the RWB & the Candy Red. I don't like the current VFR since it's heavier than the 5th gen and I absolutely hate the headlights, they are FUGLY. The VFR has never been a strong seller in the US. It's a shame since in Europe it's one of the most popular bikes going. It's historically been priced higher than a CBR 600 & the same as a 1000 both of which will spank the VFR on the track. I could care less about track day prowess, although I'm sure there are people who just have to have a bike that can set records on whatever they ride.

    I bought my bike because:
    1. It's a Honda (I would buy a Duc or Triumph but that about it).
    2. It was the single only bike made in 2000 that could do everything (except off roading) & do it well.
    2. It's got a single side swing arm. I won't own a bike, ANY BIKE, that doesn't have one.
    3. It was yellow. I still would have bought a red one but yellow is my favorite color.

I just wish Honda would either get with the program or simply cancel the bike entirely. I take it as an insult to the VFR faithful who have been waiting for a new bike for 6 years. They update the squid bikes every 79 minutes so I don't think it's too much to ask that we get a new bike in 6 years. There is not a thing wrong with my current bike but if I ever wreck it or it gets stolen, I really don't have an option but buying a used one on EBAY.

You could be right. I only stumbled on the VFR by accident. It gets almost no advertising so I really didn't know if it was still a current bike or not. Didn't really matter to me since I was buying used anyway. I don't know if I'd be disappointed if they drop it or not. It would make mine more unique I guess. I really hope to get this bike over 100000 miles anyway so I don't plan on getting a new VFR any time soon. I agree with you on the new ones. I'm just not impressed. It seems like the VFr may be getting to be more of a niche bike than an all-around bike like it used to be. Could just be me, though.

I doubt that Honda will cancel the VFR due to the new Honda V4 powered race machine , Its fast and sounds awesome.....Youtube.com has some vids of the track tests ,whoa what a sound the exhaust makes and the low rpm rumble when the rider is rolling out of pit box..

Honda would have better VFR sales in the U.S if they would stop pouring so much into the 600cc class ..CBR stands for " Chiropractor Back Realignment".
Thats what you need after riding a 120 miles on a cbr...

Look at the kawasaki concours , after 20 yrs its being totaly redesigned...Yeah to me the 6th gen VFR is an ugly fat pig with a Vtec problem and cam chain problem...But to each his own opinion...To me the 5th gen VFR is the last TRUE Generation of VFR 1998-2001 , as the TRUE VFR has gear driven cams , good looks, side mount exhaust, SSA, all around handling and stability, reliability.... Nuff said....4 now..LOL

opinions...opinions.... My opinion, I do like the gear driven cams, but I wouldn't trade my 02 Vtec. Even if they come out with a new model, I love this one and will be keeping it. It's still a true VFR!

Well when Honda updates the squid cbr every 2 yrs and has kept the VFR the same since 2002 ( color change for 07) and keeps raising the price for the same bike every year...HHHMMM.. Thats Bull crap..

I doubt that Honda will drop the VFR. From what I can make out it is a pretty popular bike in the rest of the world. North Americans seem to be hung up on speed and power and miss the finer points. Certainly for an older guy like me who wants a well built, do everything bike that doesn't wreck my back there really isn't much else available here. I am not sure what the thing with the gear driven cams is other than it is different. Cam chains if properly designed, which Honda typically does, should last a very long time. Personally I am not sure I would go for a bigger engine in the VFR. I think 100+ HP and a top sheed of 140mph plus is more than I can handle in the real world. The VFR takes me as fast as I want to go in relative comfort and reliability. Only thing I would really improve is the suspension. On the Gen 6 it is a bit soft. Dammed if I know why Honda doesn't put decent springs in the front considering the price of a VFR.

The more I ride my viffer the more I like it. Pretty much every other bike I have owned (11) has shown up some pretty significant faults over time.

    Me like. Me happy:smile: .

This is exactly my point. Honda doesn't do squat to the bike yet raises the price every year. I could care less about profit margin for a mega-large corporation. If you bite the hand that feeds you (the customers) don't be to surprised when they don't stick around.

They update the CBR every two years because it's a race platform, and it has to evolve quickly to remain competitive. Now, if Honda would build the next evolution of the RC30/RC45 homolgation racers...THAT would be something.
