One for the Brits on here

Wifey away for the weekend so I went out to play and did a ride today I have promised myself for a long time.

    Gainsborough to Sheffield

And then rode over Snake Pass (A57) from Sheffield to Glossop and back via Woodhead pass. Then on to Barnsley, Doncaster and home.

Weather was great apart for a bit of rain in Glossop, but that's near Manchester so probably not surprising

It was nice sitting outside the Ladybower Inn having lunch and watching the world go by.

If anyone is thinking of doing it watch out for the pine needles. They're all over the road with only the car wheel tracks being clear

I'll just need to get my dancing shoes on when the Boss gets back for not doing the stuff she had planned for me:wink:

It was a beautiful day here, too, though on the chilly side (45-50F). I took a nice 2.5 hr ride in the hills to the east, and leaves--and there are lots of them--were the only real danger. A surprising number of clowns living on back roads just blow their leaves into the street. That sure takes away some of the fun. And the wife, she is with her new husband, so he is doing all the dancing and I just ride.

Yep, and I am just coming out of another relationship. Let's see...there were some benefits, probably don't need to spell those out , rode 6,000 less miles this year than last year :frown:, and Ii still got in trouble again . Damn, I'm too old to get in trouble. Today was a good day, and I'm sitting in the garage next to my still very warm bike, whose chain I just oiled, drinking a beer and smoking a cigar, and reading VFRW posts. It is hard to complain. (Same big grin, albeit different cause.)

I hear ya, life is good my friend, just finished up some bike stuff myself after a two hour ride and low and behold I am hearing zero complaints on any number of irrationalities. Pure bliss! I'm sure to add another mistake to my long list, but for now peace and solitude are suiting me just fine.

Best to you, Hope the splits weren't to painfull, and enjoy the day!

I've not ridden in Scotland yet but the plans are in place to ride to the Isle of Skye

Probably in April 2010 - leave permitting
