Hi Everyone, I just bought my first new '06 VFR 800 last Friday. I traded in my 2 year old Hornet 900, which was restricted to 33BHP for learner legal reasons here in Ireland, and now I finally have a full powered VFR. I have to say I am really enjoying the change and the little subtleties of what makes a good bike. I find it hard to believe how comfortable the ride is and how effortlessly the bike moves. Obviously I am only settling in the engine at this stage but I am seeing form day one how such a bike can bring a warm smile to so many faces. The sound alone when the bike is idle in neutral has a fantastic harmony to it. I had only ever heard VFR going past me, so this is my first time getting up, close and personal with my own. The build and finish is as high as I would expect from Honda, perfect all round and certainly coming from my Hornet, I expected nothing less. Well I will be investing in a set of v35 side cases from Givi, they have finally made what looks to be copies of Honda's luggage. Even though I would imagine that Givi probably already make Honda's luggage, seeing as they make just about every other bike company’s luggage on the market. After that I guess a good set of heated grips and I should be good for the open road for a couple of weeks, leaving wet Ireland and heading south to Spain Already looking forward to next summer... Glad to be still flying a Honda.
Welcome to the world of VFR's (hence the name, VFRWorld :wink. That's a beautiful shade of red. So far I have yet to hear of a vfr disappointing anyone, but then maybe I just tune out the negative stuff. lol
All that's offered in AUS is that red and the black for the '06, a white '06 was my choice when i was first shopping but no go on that colour here.
I,m quite surprised to hear that Honda are not shipping the new Glory red to probably the biggest buyers of the VFR i.e. the US and AUS. I wonder if anyone has ever questioned Honda on their reasoning of this, seeing as historically Red has been probably the most popular colour of the VFR. I have had numerous complements on the colour when parking it in work and in town where I go for coffee in the last week. Hopefully Honda will see sence and starting shipping the Glory Red to the US and AUS in time. I must say I love the look of the VFR in white, reminds me a bit of Lamborghini's Countach. My favourate car of all time.
Since owning the VFR i've had nothing but compliments on the way it looks and sounds (mostly from non riding folk though). Too bad i'm married as a few attractive young ladies were quite impressed also..:faint:
