My bike is making a noise when it is warming up.

its a tapping noise. seems to go away. if iv got too much oil in the bike it doesent make the noise.

If it only happens for a few seconds when the bike is first started, it's probably just a little noise while the motor manages to pump oil up into the head. I don't usually hear this on my VFR, but it's really common on my KTM 950 with its dry sump system; it's pretty normal.

...you definitely don't want to run your bike with too much oil in it!

It's probably nothing, but when was the last time you checked your valves? And are you talking about a few seconds of tapping when you first start the bike, or a few minutes? ...big difference.

Well, if it's got 40-50k miles and it takes "minutes" for the sound to go away, then it sounds like you are WAY overdue for a valve adjustment!!!

I'd stop logging too many miles on her until you get in there and have a look-see. :)
