well, I was wearin' my vest and it held up great... but I didn't know we were gonna be doin' canyons, or I'd have worn my textile jacket with the armor...

So I suppose a "must-have" for next time will be a more intimate knowledge of the places we're going  I just wasn't prepared for twisties, and in hindsight could've just turned and burned, headed back home, but I was enjoyin' the company...

And I ask again, does anyone know where to get a cheap shift lever? I called Cycle Gear, they said they only show OEM part for $70... tryin to save here lol

I think a crash analysis forum is something that would be a good idea for VFRW, I have seen this work very well at other sites and could be useful to all of us here as well. Whaddya think Reg?

In theory this would be great. But you have seen what haas been posted here from those who"think" they know someting and only shoot off with bad advise...that can be taken seriously by the novice. Too bad though. I t would be great if credibilty could be maintained.

what is a crash analysis forum? is that where you call someone names and tell them what they did wrong? if so Im all for it. jk... We are a pretty loose crowd (that's why we take all those shots) so it could easily deteriorate, but if it's wanted, I have no problem getting another one going. Mostly I hear we have too many forums already, though...

I've seen a bunch of guys wearing just vest & I don't get it:crazy:. I've been down twice and because I love both my arms both times while wearing a jacket and I'm interested as to how the vest held up. Got any close up pics of how the vest held up?

Sorry about your incident Justin. Sorry I just now noticed the thread for the first time. Drewl will tell you, I'm a little slow... Glad to hear that you are OK and that the bike is still running. It could have been much worse! Those Rollerblade elbow and knee pads worked out OK huh?? HA HA Just kidding! Get that baby back up and rideable again so we can go hit up Big Bear! Take care and +++++++++1 to riding your own ride and your own pace... (be quiet Drewl!)

So glad to hear you came away without any real human damage. For parts try Honda Direct Line Parts - they may be cheaper for your shifter. As a graduate of the "Pavement Hurts" University, I wear my jacket, pants and boots with full armor protection every time I get on the bike for a ride, even if I am going around the block as a test of some mod. Too many brain dead drivers out there. You mean to tell me Jay didn't offer to have one of his guys come out and transport your injured bike home? Selfish of him! LOL. Never mind the "testiness" Riding is done here for several months. Just waiting for snow for ski season to arrive.

I kinda do too  looks agressive, and for some reason ladies seem to appreciate the look...

Seriously considering just rounding off the edges on the front plastic, makin' it look like some of the new Suzuki SV's I've seen around here... maybe lose the mirrors, get me some of the bar-end style ones...

Also made a brilliant investment. Since the fairings are off, I found it absurdly easy to bolt on some frame sliders. I bought a set of steel grind pegs made for a BMX bike at K-Mart for like $10. My brother had this rig on a previous bike and these things, cheap as they are, work just as well as the expensive stuff... I wouldn't have trusted them unless he'd already had to use 'em (and when he took a grinder to these puppies to prove their resilience, I was impressed)

But hey, that's just my .02 on the subject... in retrospect, if I'd had the sliders, I wouldn't have been lookin' at replacing nearly as much...
