I've liked these for a while but they were only imported here in 89 and 90 I think. I've been trolling around and found one in Killeen TX that is really nice.

Anyone ever had one or have experiences to share?

IMO those where very cool and useful. I had a chance to get one back a when but LOL went after a VFR instead, but it always haunted me, did I miss out on something cool. then I find out over seas it's bigger brother, the African twin, now there's a bike they should still be making as well as bring it over here. talk about a what a cool SM version.. can we say ala Aprilia Shiver?

The Transalp was the additional bike I've always been looking for. Honda's XR 650L didn't fit the bill so I had to settle on a KLR 650.

I found what looks like (albeit from one picture) a clean one here in the Twin Cities. However, it is at a salvage/clearing house place called Sport Wheels.

This is a bit of a turnoff for me. However, I presume that it was traded in and the dealer couldn't or didn't want to deal with selling it as it is somewhat of a niche market.

I may check it out further. It has 28k on it. Is the white scheme.

However, it has Supertrapps on it. Another turn off as I nor my neighbors don't need the noise. Better yet on some bizarre looking machine like the Transalp!

    Any thoughts on the Supertrapps?

The XR650L was not the bike I thought it would be, I hope the Transalp would be a better tourer and still have offroad ability. Looks like a blast to me, I love hitting the streets, streams and trails all in the same ride.

The thought crossed my mind. I then thought that it is getting cold out and it may not be a good time of the year for that. Then I thought, "you are thinking about buying a Transalp moron, you can't possibly be whining about the weather!".
