+1. Does anyone else remember dog experts on TV warning people that Dalmatians aren't great with kids when the live-action "101 Dalmatians" movies came out? Not saying it's always true but IMO that was a good move, otherwise unsuspecting parents would have bought the wrong dog for their families.

Just 'cause it's cute doesn't mean it's the right dog for you.

agreed! I'm not just hate'n on the pit bull breed and if you have them I hope nothing ever happens and I'm sure the breed has some good point..I just havn't seen many of them that would offset the risk factor

    Shorty:

Get those dogs fixed, PLEASE!! If I read correctly, one of your dogs (Kaya I'm assuming) had a litter. Too many dogs (especially bully breeds) are dying in shelters.

my little brother used to sleep on our boxer when he was a baby...and she wouldn't move until he woke up...whether it was a 20 minute cat nap or a 2 hour nap... pretty sure Shorty wouldn't endanger her kid...I think if the dog tried anything it would be at the least locked outside....

Kaya is fixed now and the daughter of hers we kept is about to now that she is getting older.

Whats the problem with the dog laying by my son on the blanket? I was right there on the blanket the whole time. He has a lot of fun with her and she loves him like one of her pups. She is always very cautious with him. It isn't like I put the blanket it down, set him on it, and walked out of the room.

Thank you. Kaya is like your boxer, she is as gentle with him as newborn pups. Dogs, especially mama types, love to snuggle with young children. Actually, all of our dogs are extremely good with him otherwise they wouldn't be here.

Often I while I am chatting I have Little Johnny with me, asleep on my shoulder. 99% of the time one of the dogs just absolutely has to curl up on the footrest to snuggle with us.

We have four dogs with varying amounts of pit in them. They are all very well kept, treated with love and respect, and they treat us exactly the same way. If you walk into our house they will treat you the same as well and would love nothing more than to sit next to you on the couch or on your lap if that is ok with you.

There has been exactly one time during the couple of years we've had Kaya where she has ever taken an alerted stance and that was while I was walking her at night and a questionable character was walking by us. Still she did nothing but signal to me "hey this guy might be up to no good", no aggression just stopped and looked at him then me before continuing. Every other time a person has passed she stays to our side of the sidewalk and keeps to her happy self.
