Taking Andrew Ward's suggestion about dyno tests to heart, and having heard one lister say it felt like his stock pipe gave him a better bottom end than his TBRs, I decided to test my stock pipe against my new Devil slip-on. I had my local dyno center do tests back to back: one with the Devil slip-on and one with the stock muffler. Having spent $600 on the Devil (nothing's cheap in Japan), I was stoked to find that it obliterated the stock pipe across the board in both torque and horsepower. For example, at 3000 rpms, the stocker is putting out 5.6 kg of torque, while Devil is pumping out 6.1 kg. Peak horsepower difference is a healthy 6 hp (Devil 105.1, stock 99.1) but even more impressive is how the Devil is maintains its power to redline, while the stock muffler's power drops like a rock, creating a whopping 9 horsepower difference. If you really want to know what your aftermarket pipe is doing compared to the stocker, have it dynoed. You may be surprised, as I was, at the inaccuracy of your two-cheeked dynometer. I have absolutely no commercial stake in this but I thought I'd let you know that a company is now selling Devil pipes in the States. The guy's name is Rob, and apparently he's having a bit of a tough time figuring out how to make contact with the masses of VFR owners. Since Devil is a great product, maybe you can mention his site (www.devilbikes.com) on your website. Also, check out the new Shotgun style slip-on from Devil. It looks mighty tasty! I'm also fowarding a dyno-run comparison of the Devil slip-on I used to own vs. the Erion full system. It might be useful on your site since it can VFR owners know what they can generally expect the performance differences to be between a slip-on and full system. devil slip-on yes ihave oneon my 98 vfr....i absolutly loveit!!! the sound is incredible..at a track day at the millersportstrack it sounded like a gp bike. any thoughts i might have had about selling this bike are GONE FOREVER!!! i have a 748 ducati with D&D cans and man..... talk about sound...... mindblowing is the word. ya know after riding both...ya gotta have both!!! have fun a "Speed Safely" the maj
