hi, i need to lower the rear of my 86 vfr750r about 3" (for drag racing). not having a manual or any other info, would i be correct in assuming that if i drill new holes in the U shaped connecter on the bottom of the shock mount that this would this achiieve the desired results. has anyone else done this. any thoughts on how the difference in hole centers would equate to amount lowered. i may need to fabricate a new piece if the centers are too close. locky
I've been thinking about lowering my 87 vfr sometime soon, but just not sure on how to go about lowering the front. As for the back, I came across this same question just before finding this thread. I honestly don't see why it would not work, but like you said, how much would it bring it down? Anyone?...
If what I have heard is correct, you can lower the tree in front but be SURE to be at the same height as the rear or at least proportional to the original settings. Minor adjustments can be made to the rear with the shock spring adjustment disc/nut aka- preload adjuster dial. Definitely invest in a manual for your bike before you start pokin holes.
