I tried the search and couldn't find anything, even the shop manual didn't help. I think its a 525 type/pitch chain but not sure what I bought the lat time I ordered my chain. If anyone can let me know that it would help me out a lot.

it is in the manual under rear wheel / suspention section in spec's
should be a 530 I think same as 6th gen but different # of links.
It is listed as a code just go to web site to get correct size using the code.
or go to sprocket center and type in your year it will give you the correct chain.

    link
    VFR 800F1 98-01 - Sprocket Center
    says 530 is stock w/ option for 520 so stay w/ 530

I check my shop manual again under the suspension chapter and nothing was there but I will take your word on the size being a 530, you would think something that important would be in more than one place in a shop manual but then again I have the Clymer manual so it may not be as good as the official Honda one. Thanks for your help.

    these forums make me laugh
guys ask questions and they are told to look in the manual or told "should be" or "could be" or look at the link or ask someone ..................................
no one just goes OK that's a 530 chain on all VFR750's and 800's. Standard across all models, you choose regular or o-ring or x-ring and gold or standard plating
isn't this the place to come fore definite answers ????????????????

only 2 people answered before you and both said it was a 530. even gave examples for where he could confirm it. You are right. Forums do crack me up.
