I have come to the conclusion, after witnessing the many regional debates that take place on VFRW, that there is no good place in the entire US to live.

    To wit:

New England- way too cold in the winter and the winter lasts too long, cost of living way too high

East Coast- full of crazy urban areas interspersed with overpriced enclaves that call themselves rural, hurricanes

The South- completely overrun with crazed rednecks and NASCAR types, hot and humid all the time, everybody's fat, hurricanes

The Midwest- flat, no twisties, hard winters, bug infested summers, full of farmers, everybody's fat

The Southwest- hot and dry, desert........full of retired old farts

West Coast- fire, eathquakes, mud slides, way too expensive

Pacific Northwest- rains all the time, cost way too much

Alaska- cold, not exactly motorcycle road paradise

Hawaii- not an option unless youre rich

    Canada- see Alaska

Now these are opinions I have gleaned from VFRW, and I have finally decided maybe I should just move. Not to metion we're damn near all out of work or laid off or something.

Since this is a worldwide forum, I invite those of you not living in North America to weigh in with your suggestions on why I should move, or why I shouldnt move, to your country. Be honest.

I have a friend who has lived in Costa Rica for the past 9 years and loves it. It's cheap and the weather is great year round.

I owned a VFR in Thailand - perfect. Drivers all in slow autos, very bike aware. 80% of drivers also ride (or have close family that rides). Weather - beautifully sunny all year except in rainy season when you need to put up with the fairly occasional but heavy downpour. Good quality roads - except in very rural areas. Great twisty bits up north, no cars (google images 'Chiang Mai').

Fine for speeding (100mph in 35mph zone) - 200 Baht ($10). Fine for riding without a helmet - 100 Baht. Fine for riding without a valid licence - 500 Baht.

All smiles from everyone (as long as you are kind and respectful back), best beaches on planet earth, best food in the world, and the nightlife is ... (oops, forgot, this is a family-friendly forum).

Hard to get a long stay visa...

Well, I hail from Poland, where we currently have snow and the temperature is below zero (Celsius). The VFR is locked away and just a memory - and will be so for five looong months. So for me 90 Fahrenheit is paradise (btw rarely saw 120 - where/how long did you go???). The million other bikes around you are all Honda Clicks and things, so soon left behind with a VFR  (but I agree Bangkok can be tedious with the traffic jams at all hours).

How about Mr. Rogers neighborhood?, it's always nice there, the people look kinda funny but they seem really nice, they have public transportation. Nobody seems to have to work, so it must be inexpensive to live there.........damn, this some good weed

bear - I regret to inform you that it is not all flat. There are several twisties in NE Iowa/NW IL all the way down the mississippi river. As far as flat, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma Western Iowa, yeah pretty flat. Northern/Eastern IA not as flat. And not everyone is fat, or farmers. Bugs, yep, got them all over. Farmers - yep, spring and fall, watch the rural roads.

The Carolinas also has the dragon's tail, but you can only run that so many times. And no, that is not the midwest.

There are great places to live in the NW that are not too expensive, but you still can enjoy the inflated west coast salaries.

And it doesn't rain that much!

Snap out of it! Get off of your pity-pot. Your post really has nothing to do with riding. Rather, it seems to have more to do with a mid-life crisis, along with a self-perceived employment crisis and a fear of the future.

You want to challenge us to come up with "geographic cures" for you, based upon nice motorcycling roads rather than an area of the midwest with an economy that will hopefully land you a decent-paying job and allow you to make a decent living?

Your first priority should be a meaningful and well paying job, one with benefits, etc. If you go on job interviews, what will be your stated objective and the headline on your resume? Will it be "I have come to the conclusion, after witnessing the many regional debates that take place on VFRW, that there is no good place in the entire US to live [and ride my motorcycle...]"

Gee, that ought to have prospective employers really begging you to come back for 2nd interviews. Me thinks that you may have the cart in front of the horse.

Its all good brother, I'm fine, really,

It was meant tongue in cheek, kind of like, hey everywhere has its good and bad points.

But I also like getting the responses from outside the US, and in NCB's case, from inside his own mind, damn that was funny............

You are right about one thing though, sometimes one has to go where the work is.

So now, rather than focus on the bad, people are talking about the good aspects of where they happen to live, and we all gain a little insight.

I do appreciate your concern, but really, I'm ok bro. I have a job. Bwahhaaaaahaaaaahaaaaa

Bwahhhhaaaahaaaaahaa, bwahhaaaaaaa  oh shit I cant stop laughing....heeheeeheeee

Sorry Redrover, I know you were just trying to help.

Sometimes this place is just too much .........................haaahaaaahaaaaaaa

I got some relatives in Costa Rica, dont think for a minute I havent thought about that place......hmmmm

    Thailand? Interesting, very

BTW, I am updating my resume title to read " Frustrated forum writer seeks work, currently working on getting his point across and being silly, heavily into satire and sarcasm"
