    Well when people do that I agree sometimes it is racing, but usually they are not trying to. Just not paying attention and going with the flow mentality I think.

    JB always laughs about how women look so angry when they drive and I have to laugh because most of them you see do. They also hate to be passed. We are rulers of the world in our car. :tongue:

    All the stores around here have cameras everywhere so I dont worry about that. However, in my old CRX someone actually put a huge crack in one of the panels and nobody would do anything about it including the COPS when the person refused to give information, stated they had no insurance or license, and left.

    The inability to maintain a safe distance...

    The following sequence of events is but one example:

    1) Being tailgated by a cager while I'm riding in the right-hand lane, flowing with the traffic and minding my own business;

    2) Even though the left-hand passing lane is wide-open and a cager is free to pass and go around me...

    3) He/she at one point (while still riding my ass) then aggressively swerves out into the left passing lane, nearly missing my taillight, and passes me with a short burst of speed, and then...

    4) Before he/she is well around me, and well ahead of me in order a execute a proper passing maneuver, they instead begin slowing down as they pass me and they then proceed to cut me off as they prematurely jerk-right, back into the right-hand lane, right fucking in front of me;

    5) After they've cut me off thusly, they then proceed to go slower in the right-hand lane than I was going in the first place! At any rate, we all know that it's a bad idea to get all pissed-off and attempt to tail-gate and intimidate a cager while riding a bike, flashing our highbeams, etc... so we instead take the highroad, we give quarter, and then fall back 10-seconds or more, knowing that quite often discretion is the better part of valor.

    6) ...Next comes what may be among the most dangerous "cager-rager" aggressive behaviors, whether it follows in the course of the above mentioned sequence of events, or it is instead an isolated example of highly aggressive road-rage...

    What I'm referring to here is the act in which a cager (even though the motorcyclist has fallen back and is maintaining a 10-second separation), is playing a game of "I'm not going to let you pass me motherf*cker", and the game goes like this: If, while still respecting a 10-second distance, you attempt to pass them on either the inside or the outside (preferably the former), they will try to block you from doing so by abruptly swinging into whichever lane you choose to pass them. Of course, when cagers (usually boys and 'men') are playing this game of checkers with a motorcycle, the biker must be especially wary because the cager is usually spending far more time looking into their rearview mirror rather than watching the road ahead.

    If you see a good shot to blow-by them at some point (watch for telltale signs which distract them from watching you in the mirrors, such as an incoming cell phone call, or perhaps their kid just puked all over their back seat, or perhaps they've just dropped a hot roach), this may be a good time to downshift 2-3 gears (while in VTech mode) shoot-the-gap, and then swiftly blow-by them at mach 1, before they knew that passed them. Then get so far ahead of them that they're a distant memory.

    On the other hand, you could just as well pull over at the nearest exit, take a leak, fuel-up, kick the tires, live another day, and shake your head in disbelief. In the end, it's not worth any hubris. :)

    you and me both brother!

    as far as tailgating(sp?), it is rare that anyone ever tailgates me... I don't let them.

    well first thing I have to say is cagers suck and either have a problem with bikes or are jealous and too chicken to ride a bike. Tailgating is # 1 for me, also trying to pass a bike in a turn, trying to come in a biker's lane becuase the cagers lane is partially blocked, cagers trying to turn at an intersection when they see a bike coming, cagers that do not stop at stop signs, cagers that see me whitelining and try to close the gap for no reason (really stupid because I am gonna get around if you are going slow and so are other cagers - in bumper to bumper traffic it is just jealousy and stilly petty nonsense from cagers who try to block bikers from whitelining). Cagers who do not signal turns, cagers who cannot drive in the rain and go stupid slow or short stop continually. I can keep on going cause cagers are simply jealous, stupid people who are too chicken to ride a motorcycle and most cannot even drive a car properly.

    Oh yeah forgot to mention the dumb ass cager who hit my friend making an illegal U turn and all he had to say was "my bad" and was talking and joking with people who came to witness the accident scene while I was trying to get my friend an ambulance - A lot of idiot cagers out there and those seem to be the ones I meet. Another issue I have is cagers who talk onthe phone and try to drive - some of these idiots cannot chew gum and walk at the same time. Cagers provide cops with many traffic infractions to write tickets for the City's monetary gain. Why do they bother bikers? Finally the cagers I really dislike are the cagers who call the cops while they are driving on the highway to report a biker whitelining. idiot cagers - lol

    Sorry, just like every other group of people, some cops are better than others. I'm up and moving now. I'm heading to the gym, and then off to work. Anyone have any requests for target enforcement for tonight?

    Last night I made several stops including the requested no signal, and following too close. No one was deserving of a ticket. I spent most of my shift on the regular calls, plus a bunch of alarm calls and pulling trees out of the highway. We had a pretty good storm. Yesterday, I got a ride in before work, but it's still really windy out there today. Hope the weather is better where you ride.

    The one that I do the most is DWN.... Driving While Nude. I mean have you seen me? It would be a crime in my own house. Still no cops have pulled me over. BTW I adhere to Louisiana law and wear a helmet but when Im in TXs its a whole new ball game.... Here in Lafayette after 10 pm if your on the road you are probably drunk. There isnt any 3rd shift/night industry here. So DWI period is my biggest pet peave. Next would be rideing in the left lane on the interstate. Failure to use turn signals (I mean seriously you spent 1000s of dollars on your car/bike for something that was required to be on your vehicle, hefen use it. If it was an option not to have turn signals i would probably understand it a little more.) The one "rule" that covers all the laws that people break that really pisses me off is Being Stupid in a No Stupid Zone.

    been there... during work, I got the pleasure of delivering two mice & keyboard setups to one of the affiliate hospitals about 20 miles from here, so I rode instead. Nice day. Took the two lane road over the 4, as it takes more time. I got stuck behind this convoy: tractor, 18 wheeler, car, SUV, cruiser motorcycle, car, minivan, car, me. Waited for a long stretch of nothingness, and since we were all doing about 30, kicked it down to 2nd to get it going, and took off around all.

    And for the turn signal use, well, sometimes I think they are optional in cars.

    Tailgateing, in my younger years, I strap a 35mm film case to the master cylinder of my GSXR and fill it with BB's. Dumping a case full of BB's sure made the tailgaters back the F up.

    But I much wiser these days.

    BTW anyone have any empty 35mm film cases I could have?

    Tailgating and road-games playing cagers piss me off all the time, but surprisingly, a group of bikers pissed me off more than a cager ever will.

    I'm just cruising down the road, probably about ten over the limit, and I notice some guys on Harlys in my mirror. Even though they were catching up to me, I was in no hurry and just kept my pace. When they caught me, three blew by me, obnoxiously loud pipes blazing, on the right IN MY LANE while the other two passed in the left lane! Scared the shit outa me to say the least. The gang proceeded to haul ass down the road and weave in and out of traffic in a construction zone without losing any speed.

    The traffic violation I hate the most is whichever one I'm getting cited for at the time, which is usually speeding.

    With regard to the other drivers;

    1. Obstructing traffic
    2. Tailgating
    3. No turn indicators
    4. Pulling out into traffic and not exhibiting any effort to accelerate
    5. The complete lack of ability to merge
    6. Speeding up and slowing down repeatedly for no apparent reason
    7. Damn, this list could go on forever...

    70% of the driving population seems to do OK. The other 30% do a wonderful job of screwing up the rest of us. In reviewing my list, some of my pet peeves aren't violations, but they do demonstrate a lack of consideration or carelessness. That's another list entirely...

    Thanks everyone. I'll try and make them stop those annoying driving habits. Good list to work with.

    Cop (on bike) attempted to pass me in the same lane. I thought he was trying to get up on me to let me know i was travelling a wee bit too fast; so I made a lane change and looked back at him (kinda like 'what the heck?'). He wasn't even concerned with me; just going about his normal 0500 hrs ride to work... That makes me a little warm. What if he'd actually startled me and I swerved toward him? Oh, yeah: the non signal users.

    Most common violations I hate:
    1. Tailgating
    2. Failure to use turn signals
    3. Changing lanes without looking and #2.

    Most dangerous violations I hate:
    1. Failure to yield (at intersections, while turning across my lane, etc.)
    2. Oncoming vehicles crossing the centerline
    3. DUI - now known as OVI in Ohio.

    Just once in my life before I leave this Earth I would like to see a LEO pull over, rave on, and ticket some as*hole for blocking the left lane. Just once. That's all I ask.

    Talk about a revenue enhancerr! If LEOs only gave tickets to left-laners, there wouldn't be enough hours in the day for ticketing, and the coffers would be overflowing.

    By the way, have any of you peace officers that frequent this site ever issued a citation for this infraction? Just curious.
