Ok,we Now Have Two Vfrs In The Family. Just Bought An 86 With 17 K Miles On It. All Stock But A D&d Exhaust System,rwb Paint,i Love It! Both Bikes Have White Wheels And The Brake Dust Is A Pain In The Ass! Whats The Cure As Far As Brake Pads?
LOL that seems to be the only answer, I have used differnt brake pads and they all end up on the rim:thumbsup:
Go to your local marine supply and get one of those hook anchors, take the rotors and pads off your bike. Now when you feel like stopping just hoist your anchor!
NOT a good place for white wheels: brake dust collects mostly on right side, chain lube on the left. Best way i've found to clean is with a gooey handcleaner (like Go-Jo) scrubbed in with a toothbrush, then flushed with water.
+1 Isn't there some kind of wheel wax out there (Meguiars / Mother's ?) designed to not let dust stick to wheels?
This is not an easy solution, but I power coated my wheels and they stay cleaner alot longer. I'm guessing that the powder coating is smoother then the factory paint, so the dust doesn't stick as well?
Cleaning I must say that powder coated wheels are MUCH easier to clean, wipes right off every time....no scrubbing, with just a mild soap.:thumbsup:
i pulled my back wheel off and cleaned all that grime outa my swing arm and wheel. before adjusting, cleaning, lubing the chain... i just used wd-40 for the cleaning part. (start the flaming) soap and water usually just smears grease around, but wd-40 took it right off... ps i did use honda chain lube when finished, not just wd40. lol
